Anon existed for a reason. I don't believe they're criminals at all, maybe you're not looking deeper enough; they may be misfits, but they do understand how government and corporation alike are trying to control us via debt, war, finance, and food. Class warfare, religion, and etc. Anonymous needs to stay Anonymous, and getting caught is part of the sacrifice one pays for freedom. Sure, many people are against Anonymous simply because what the Governments want them to believe. Our government doesn't believe in: transparency, entitlement, health care, freedom (vague and often misused), workers' right, and many other things. Government believes in: greed, corporation, debt, loan, bank, secrecy, and other things that you support (Tea Party?). This is the very fundamental fascist behavior that Anonymous is trying to fight against via digital means - it's the next revolution. Look at Egypt, Libya, Syria, and other middle eastern countries: Anonymous were credited to provide rebels with internet access, and taking down government communications. That's something V would do. The rest of you tools here are bunch of system of a down groups. Sucking governments' teats to do their bidding for cash. Morbidly worship the corporation to satisfy their sinful needs. And most importantly, you're ripe for corruption in the name of the corporation. Believe me, there will be a second revolution; it won't take a teary chubby geek to start a revolution, but a legion of Anonymous - impossible to take down. Sure, one or two, but that's it. If you can't comprehend freedom then you don't even deserve it, go find your own land, or we will force you out. It's the land of the free and unopressed from tryanny; that ideal just brought down a couple of good countries down to its knee. We are Anonymous; We are Legion. We won't forget. We won't forgive. Expect us. Criticism is form of democracy - it's good. So I don't care what you guys say but remember this: the end justifies all means. You say that as if Anonymous is an isolated group. The actions of 0.001% of Anonymous don't reflect the whole. Though I didn't bother read what those alleged ones were accused of.
Add Assange to that. He commited high treason in Austrailia by posting their diplomatic cables. He should be extradited to AU and executed as well.
Having spent many a year on 4chan I'm well versed on what Anonymous means. The definition you might be referring to is the media label for a small group of hacktivists, a small subset of anon. Anon being anyone who posts on 4chan without an identity, this is anon, and it covers a very wide range of people.
In this world, it is still criminal to expose criminality, especially that done by governments. People who have problem with Assange must have problems with the press in general, because they too expose things which the governments wants to be hush hush about. The leaked campaign to attack WikiLeaks and its supporters. The pentagon is involved.
How is it treason if Democratic governments are supposed to be transparent? They only want to charge him with treason because the cables show corruption or some other form of embarrassment for the gov't
You see your studying to be some sort of network guy, trust me all the best network people are hackers, you wouldn't be a half a good admin if you didn't know the game. Sure some of these people could be labelled misfits, they played a game and got burnt, they have to deal with it. I doubt they hurt you in any real way, don't take what your butt hurt professors say to heart, there are 15 year olds who could teach them a thing or two.
