I have been using Catalyst 10.4a for a long time and tried the new Catalyst 11.6 witch flickers in BF2 and the performance in other games is bad.

Is there any recent Catalyst that is good with the HD4800 or I should keep using old Catalyst for ever?

    Thanks!

I think 11.2 might have been best for me so far. right now i use 11.6 to keep up to date, but thats just stupid of me, they suck. rly interested in what others have to say though, need a good driver as well.

I found 11.1 to be most stable. Later versions did BSoD on random times for no good reason. Windows 7 64-bit and Radeon HD 4890 here. I haven't tested anything beyond 11.5 though.

Using 11.1a here with no issues (11.1a is not too different from 11.2).
I've been avoiding more recent drivers due to the issue in this topic:

I'm only going to try newer drivers once that issue is fixed.

I have a 4870 and had been using the latest twl drivers. they're pretty good, but TF2 seemed a little sluggish in the middle of 2fort. i'm going to give the earlier ones linked here a try.

I installed 11.2 whql and it's pretty good. I'll try the twl 10.5 and the latest version to see if it's good for my setup.

I just had a little trip down driver memory lane with my 4870. I tried out 10.4, 10.5a, 10.10, 11.2, 11.5 all of which I remember being pretty good sets. I used the newest caps.

I played a little BC2 on Heavy Metal, some AC Brotherhood, Eve Online and Duke Nukem Forever on each set and 11.6 seems to be the best set for me overall. However, 10.10XG was the best in BC2. So it basically depends what you're playing!

i have used every single driver release i can think of since 2008 for my 4870s and 11.6 has been the best so far, at least for crossfire.

best drivers for me as far as crossfire performance goes.

witcher 2, crysis 2 shows some solid fps gains..

now if they can only fix that darn spotty flickering terrain bug for 4800 crossfire in DiRT3 and i'll be one happy gamer....

well, i used the hd3_4x2 drivers and much like the 10.10e drivers, they don't allow forcing anti-aliasing in eve online when it's in window mode. i play with 2 screens, with 2 clients in 'fixed window' mode. the built in eve anti aliasing is much slower, so i don't like to use it.

    i think i'll try 11.6 for a while.

After some tests the best driver performance and stability for me is the TWL 10.5a (genetix hd34v108), mentioned by atimaniac, but it lacks scale image option and the firefox gpu aceleration but it's not a big deal for me.

The TWL Final Build v5.10 - 10.12a baseline and the Catalyst 11.2 WHQL are pretty much the same for me in terms of performance and stability, this drivers support scale image option and gpu aceleration but the performance is not so good with some games like BF2 and TF2.
