    Word from VR-Zone is thatthe Intel Core i7-980 non Xtreme edition multiplier locked will officially be on sale from June 26th onwards replacing the current Core i7-970 processor launched nearly a year...

    Considering the 2600K offers superior value and the hexacore 900 series is severely overpriced, I likewise see little point in this model.

    Pointless hexacore ... Intel's just trying to milk it or trying to serve companies who are locked into LGA1366 and can't find a reason to go LGA1156 due to budgeting. I have no clue why else they would bother.

    So this is basically a gimped version of the 980X - exactly the same except the multiplier ISN'T unlocked... what a waste of time :3eyes:

    why don't Intel start releasing Hexacore for Sandy Bridge ? Im sure some will be will to pay ....
