Hello everyone, my power supply has gone to heaven and now rests in peace :bang:... I'm looking for a replacement for 700-750W good for a future SLI 560. I found these: OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W and Cooler Master GX 750W. The first is modular and has 25 amps on 12V1 and 25 amps on 12V2, the Cooler Master it is not modular, but has 60 amps on a single 12V rail. What do you recommend? or tell me a power supply at cost for 70-90 €. Thx !:nerd:
thank you, excuse the noob question, my case has the space for PSU at the top, I can flip upside down? fan throws out hot air from the case, right? thx
1 bit if info on the OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w....though it's rated as having 25A (max) on each of the 12v rails, it's total output is only 46A, not 50 as would be implied by OCZ's ratings. If you plan on using 2xGTX560 in SLI, it would be sufficient...using 2xGTX560Ti in SLI, it could possibly come up short. eVGA recommends 500watt with 30A...Hilbert says to add an extra 200watts + 20A per card, which would put it right at 50A...or 4A above what the OCZ ModXStream Pro 700watt can actually output.
Thanks, Zotac says that 450W is enough .... however, does not specify how many amps -.-" http://www.zotacusa.com/zotac-geforce-gtx-560-multiview-zt-50706-10m.html
http://www.kingwin.com/products/cate/power_supplies/lz_1000.asp Quite sufficient and headroom to grow....and great price with tons of great reviews.......
If your case doesnt allow the PSU to draw in cold air from outside the PC, then the intake fan must face toward the centre of the PC. I recommend the PSU I have, Corsair AX750 if your PC is switched on a lot. Its 80+ gold certified, meaning it is around 90% efficient. Its not cheap but it should pay for itself in saved electricity before the warranty is out. The warranty is 7 years !
450watt, 24A....which, if you follow Hilbert's suggestion for the GTX560Ti, would put you at needing roughly 44A....which the OCZ ModXStream Pro 700watt is capable of outputting. I do like the specs of the Kingwin 1kW that mykledw linked to....not sure on their overall quality though. Makalu has a nice PSU FAQ thread setup here though: General Hardware - Power Supply FAQ Too bad I have on need for a 1kW PSU....I like the rated output per 12V rail...but 80A max utilizing all 6, 12V rails.
Not to crap on a whole brand, but I have read many terrible reviews on the OCZ PSU's. (Both user and site). Also, if you look on Newegg, about 90% of their Refurb/Recert/Open Box PSU's are OCZ with people crying about them.
I'm confused right now... :3eyes: What are the differences between OCZ StealthXStream 2 700W and ModXStream 700W and Fatal1ty 750W ? the last (Fatal1ty) is perhaps the best?
I can not answer the Questions, but it was StealthXStream, GameXStream, EliteXStream, that they were all returning. There is a Link to Newegg's only Recertified PSU's. It is enough to put me off on the whole Brand, even though I tend to stick to Antec or Corsair/Seasonic anyway. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...deId=1&name=Power Supplies&SpeTabStoreType=97
yeah the Fatal1ty is the better of those stealthxstream 2 is a Fortron (FSP) budget design with a minor efficiency upgrade of the original sxs to make the 80+ list (but really no difference in real computer application...just tweaked for the unrealistic 80+ test) ModXstream and Fatal1ty are both Highpower designs...ModXS is rated at 40C and flaked out at 45C...Fatal1ty is rated at 45C and can handle 50C. Component quality in the Fatal1ty is significantly better (105C Japanese Chemi-Con capacitors throughout in the Fatal1ty vs. some questionable Chinese Trec brand in the ModXS)
