Full HD 1920x1080. As i said ubersampling makes my GPU to cry so i need to have it off. From the art/graphic side game rocks. When I tried to force AA in RadeonPro or in CCC game didn't load textures. AMD again failed lol. P.S. I'm using 8.85.6 RC2 drivers. P.S.S. Game has it own AA option and this one works.
I played the first game about maybe 70% of the way though mainly by being stubborn and wanting to try and complete it, but after a while of simply not enjoying it enough I quit, I want this one to be good as I would like a new RPG to fill some gaming time but worried its the same as the original. Mainly the things that put me off were lack of character custimising, not the character himself but different armors etc, I felt the interface, tracking quests etc was awful and was the main reason I just couldnt be bothered. Now I can see it looks like the armor issues is gone but what have they changed with regards to the menu system, quests system etc?
I also purchased the GoG.com version over the weekend for £26.99 ahead of GAME sending out my Premium Edition boxed copy (which they have done today actually), just so I would definitely have the game tomorrow (Royal Mail are notoriously unreliable here in the UK). I'm taking the afternoon off specifically to play it. I've already downloaded 9.6 GBs worth of BIN files onto my hard drive; I just need the installer and I'm good to go. When will my copy 'unlock' then? Is it still 7am GMT on Tuesday? If so then I'll get up early tomorrow just so I can have a couple of hours on it before work (even though the morning is going to be a real drag until I can leave).
P.S. Please tell me the developers included a V-SYNC option in this game as it was surprisingly missing from the first game? OK so you can force it but there really is no excuse for not including an option in-game as, IMO, it's as essential as the resolution/graphical settings unless you enjoy seeing horrific amounts of screen tearing (of which I saw plenty of in the various trailers!).
Activation and playing the game will be possible: - at 00:01 hour at the night between 15th and 16th May for the Collector's Edition - at 00:01 hour on 17th May for the Premium Edition - at 09:01 hour on 17th May for the digital editions GMT+2 http://www.en.thewitcher.com/support/faq/
It isn't so much about them being anal, they simply don't have an adult classification for games. Their highest rating is teen as far as I know - so anything with adult content fails to get a classification. This is why masny games get censored (As they don't want to fail to get a release).
@asder00 - Thanks. So if you pay £70 for the, IMO, overpriced Collector's Edition you can be playing the game today then? A very cheeky way of enticing people to buy the most expensive version I have to say but I guess I can wait a day. I'm guessing that the installer from the Collector's Edition isn't going to work on the GoG.com digital edition? I have a serial key obviously so it would be very cool if we could install the game early due to an oversight. So absolutely not then? Incidentally, why does the GoG version come with a key anyway; it says that it isn't required to play and there's no DRM?
Ok, but this isn't Oblivion. You're playing Geralt, a character from a book. How he looks, what he wears, ect, are are all based off that. I don't think you're going to see such a major revamp. This is The Witcher 2; it is for people who enjoyed the first, first, and secondly for other people. See, that's what I think people are forgetting. This isn't a Morrowind game with a nameless character who never speaks and can look / wear whatever he wants. This is based upon a book, with set characters. DA2 allowed you to do it, sure, but remember that wasn't based off a book or anything. I hated the game the first few times I tried to start it, but once I gave it a chance and got past the intro area, the game became really good. There's not much reason for Geralt to constantly change and upgrade his armor, as he's already a Master Witcher, his gear is specifically designed for Witchers and whatnot. It'd be plain stupid to have him walking around in Plate mail or something along those lines. It'd restrictive his agility and hinder his sword styles.
The key is sort-of critical as if you use the launcher and register the game you get access to patches and DLC (All of which will be free, game will get expansions instead for larger content packs.) Retail version uses InstallShield (2011 edition.) and GoG use Inno so they're not at all compatible, GoG also withholds the primary setup.bin file (At about 100 MB) and not just the setup exe.
The game is supposedly pretty challenging even on easy, hard would be quite a feat, then there's the insane or what it was called difficulty where you die permanently and can't load the savegame again should it happen plus greater enemy damage.
