Their is no difference, I doubt their ever will be a 'standard version' think about it pre order get the LE version but people who buy it the day after release get the standard version. That means from day one the community is split in to those that have the extra maps and those that don't. I would love to think that EA aren;t so stupid as to split the community in this way right from the word go.

Other than that £18 for BF3 is pretty good.

    EA are stupid.

The map pack shouldn't cost a damn dime. PAYING FOR MAPS IS RETARDED. All it does is split the communities and make people quit.

Now, if it was like...15$ for 18 new maps, I'd probably be OK with that.

Well, they don't mention any source in that news.
They also say that "apparently" it is the 18th.

I would take that with a grain of salt for sure.

    18th October for beta??

pfft. Don't believe it for a second. The game is meant to be released by around then.

If they do decide to have a beta, it will be well before that.

Both the BF2 and 2142 beta's lasted for months before release.

Did you get a BF3 beta key with it? If not, it doesn't include you :p iirc it was the 'deluxe' edition or some crap that had it.

Only those who pre-ordered the LE get access to the BF3 beta.

Don't worry, there was tons of BFBC2 keys available when that came, and it was the most anticipated Battlefield yet!

Oh well ... not like I have the bandwidth to download the BF3 beta anyways (**** you Canadian ISPs and their tiny bandwidth caps) *sigh*.

    Thanks anyways,

Yeah, I find it funny how people are bitching about Comcast's 250GB cap being so small, when my friend in New Zealand pays more than me and has a 10GB cap, and a way slower connection.

My friend now has a 40GB cap too, he's from Canada, was on a unlimited package, then this happened. Obviously, he was pissed.

Ya those caps are quite tiny, my family's paying C$46.95/month for a 10 mbps down, 512 kbps up with a 60 GB cap. We always graze the limit monthly just by surfing the net and gaming.

So you, in those supreme western countries where everyone is free and rich and in pursuit of happiness, have capped, censored and expensive internet? While I, in poor, post-soviet eastern Europe, am paying less for uncapped, 24/7, 10mbps connection? Well, interesting how these things go, isn't it.

Not necessarily true, many Asian countries and many European countries have uncapped Internet services. It's really a North American and Oceania problem with these really low caps.

Japan and South Korea are highly developed, highly democratic societies and they don't suffer the same Internet injustice as we do. Democracy has nothing to do with Internet prices.

As for censorship, no website is censored in Canada as that is unconstitutional. Not sure about the States, so I won't say anything.

I didn't say anything about democracy now did I.
Also look at UK, they have the same stupid policies - my brother there pays a lot for a capped connection, and he has 3GB/month lol.
As for the censorship, of course the US of A are doing that, and right at the DNS level. It wasn't so long ago but maybe you don't remember. And RIAA and stuff like that doesn't help their case ;)
Anyway, that's way off the subject :)

You wrote and I quote "supreme western countries where everyone is free and rich", which is often read as Western democracy.

Anyways, this is off topic, and yes, there are some countries that have caps ... in Canada we're fighting with the government to not allow incumbent ISPs to force caps on resellers (if this happens unlimited internet in Canada will be gone forever. Personally, 300 GB is enough for myself.)

I really really really wanna pre-order BF3 on Direct2Drive right now but no money =( ... at least I can download BF3 on my school's network (since it's not blocked and uses HTTP) :p.
