[Help]Problems with Grandmother 8800GTX

Hi, having problems with ASUS 8800GTX
One day PC just freezes and droped BSOD with error Nvlddmkm.sys
Ok i said, and fixed that problem. When pc restarted my eyes goes from orbits when i see that BIOS (where showing all information about HDD, DVD-ROM's, etc.) and all text infomation is mesed up like egyptian hieroglyphs. But this is nothing compared to what i see next! The windows 7 loading logo is showed with 2D vertical red stripes all over the screen!
Computer loaded. Screen is fulled with vertical stripes, resolution is changed, refresh rate is very lowered, nvidia panel can't detect graphic card. GPU-Z not showing anything, EVERST showing 8800GTX, Device manager showing that system have 8800GTX. I think that my video card is going to heaven...
Maybe somebody can help? Maybe this card is going to live? Or die?
Sorry for english, i tryed to reinstal drivers (like a PRO Super Master, with CCleaner, Driver Cleaner) reinstaled windows with full format, formated again and installed Ubuntu too. I think this is not the software issue. Yes?

ZALMAN ZM600-HP
CPU: E8400 (WC RESERATOR XT)
MSI P35 Platinum
So many gigs of XMS2 CORSAIR 2GBx4
WINDOWS 7 64bit SP1 (<<Oficial) In other HDD that is not conected to MB having UBUNTU.
And ofcourse The PIG 8800GTX with no brains anymore!

 

Your grand ma was rolling on a 88gtx? nice!
ok try to clean out any dust or cat hairs that may be in the cards heatsink.
use something like afterburner to read your temps and set fan speeds...if you still have curruption its time for a new vga for your grandma.
If you have another card you can try do that too.

 

We are poor peoples with no budget at all... No other sugestions?
I mean what exactly can couse this kind of problems?

First I too thought it was a hoax, but it seems it isn't ... I've read several reports (with pictures) here on a Dutch board that people tried it and the card worked again (at least for some more weeks/months).

I fixed two laptop GeForce 6800 Go cards with oven trick.

it isn't possible because geforce driver for OClock or program tool(as gpu-z, evga precision...) can't detect videocard "dead". lool

I recommend highly that you should bake your 8800gtx in oven but do NOT use microwave.

 

if i bake card, the capacitor's gona explode... simply as that.

shove it in the oven (not micro oven) and it will hold for a couple more months, i did that with my friends 8800gtx, it worked like a charm for about 6-7 months until it failed big time, 70'C idle with the fan at 100% and downcloacked..he can't game anymore but he can still use his computer for internet purpose.

 

make sure u read everything u can find on it and understand it properly before trying this

no one else is to blame but ur self if it works or fails

if you cannot to back to life on 8800gtx then you buy new card but unlikely.

I can confirm baking works.

Brought myself back a dead GPU and there's a thread in a german forum with many success stories, in case you are interested:

Of course it's not guaranteed to work, but the card is already dead, so there is no real risk involved imo... keep it save with temperatures and stick to the guides and it is very likely you can revive the card... and nothing should blow up
