Not very happy by the performance of the 590 it trades blows with a the 6990 but the cost is way too much a card for this price it needed to run at 580 clocks speeds and whoop the 6990 for the price difference to be justified.Maybe with overvolting the 580 clocks can be reached but i just wish they could have been that high at stock or the price to level match the 6990 as it stands its too expensive for the performance on offer imo.
HD6990 beats GTX590?!?! this results abnormal must be removed because driver has ISSUE for gtx590. calm!! I think to want upgrade to GTX590 from my GTX480 due to size vram.
ah , yeah your right, i also would like to see 2 GB cards for instance. cant seem to find that palit card that holds more memory anywhere aswell
ricardonuno1980 don't upgrade to a GTX590 then, it also has 1.5gb, you would need to go AMD if you want more, or wait for someone to do a 3/gb GTX590, which wouldn't be cheap. Rich_Guy, you using OCUK prices again, ebuyer are doing them for £569.
Yeah, saw that, think they must have a deal with AMD, as they got the most stock, and also have the best prices, but with the 590 they easily have the worst prices on the web, £40-60 more expensive than other places. The £666.66 for the Gigabyte card made me smile though
I don't want any ati card because ati is slower than nvidia on tessellation enabled and ati doesn't have physx support yet. ASUS gtx590 costs €750 in Portugal wooww! but world doesn't have EVGA yet and I don't like price. I think gtx 6xx.
Yeah, the 480 will do you till the next gen is out anyway, hopefully this is the end of the brute-force cards this year, and we can look forward to something more subtle in the winter. lol @ 666 number of the beast, that what i thought, and you a "free" beastly mouse with it:wanker:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/261333 Same model, but £568. After reading more reviews, im actually starting to think its a good card, can't say i would ever buy a dual GPU card myself, but if i had to pick one, i would go for the 590 over the 6990. Partly due to hating hot, noisy cards, and also features like proper 3D, and to a lesser extent PhysX, but if im honest, mostly due to a "better the devil you know" feeling, as while im sure many AMD's driver issues are likely user error, i can't say i would want to risk spending £500+ to find out. Course, if my existing card was an AMD one with no issues, and i preferred multi-monitor over 3D, and gamed on headphones, then the 6990 would be the better, and cheaper card. I know people like to see it as a competition, but that is for AMD and Nvidia themselves, the end user should be picking the card that best suits them.
the gtx590 is a very fast card, although the 6990 does beat it in a couple of benchies. on the other hand i must admit i'm surprised how well my gtx480 is holding its own during real world gaming, i've yet to complain about any game including the latest ones, they all running great. in 6 month to a year when nvidia/ati release the next highest end single gpu card that doubles or triples the current gtx480/570/580 fps, then i'll upgrade and if i didn't own the gtx480 and have to upgrade today i would buy the gtx580 not the 590, great card.
lol what did you expect 480 still is a high end card and its gonna be like that for the next 8-12months for sure..
