That review is quite superficial and doesn't challenge the 590 to see where it might have shortcomings. I'll wait for some better reviews.

seems unlikely that we'll see a proper review done. due to the limited amount of cards available, nvidia are apparently making their AIBs choose whether or not to ship the cards out for reviews.

I was thinking of changing to nvidia for various reasons!
But if the 6990 turns to be faster i dont think gtx 590's price give it justice!
And problems mostly from what i have noticed appear on tri and quad configurations!
Myself i had several problems with amd and i just solved them last 2 months!
But still i dont condone my 5970's performance!
If my cards could work on all games 100% then i wouldnt need a new card for like many years!

That should be a disclaimer on all multi-GPU cards IMO. ;)

Seriously though, I had HD 5870 CrossFireX that was admittedly excellent in a number of games such as Crysis, Battlefield Bad Company 2 (well, once AMD had sorted out their drivers!) and Resident Evil 5 but lacklustre in the other 85%, mostly multiformat titles. At the end of the day I had to ask myself whether I wanted superb performance and scaling in 15% of my games and headaches/hassle for the remainder or good performance in 100% of my games.

In the end, common sense won out and that's why I switched to a GTX 580. So far I'm very happy with that decision even though some games run a little slower. The trade off is well worth it though as I can now just play games without having to create profiles in RadeonPro to circumvent negative scaling and all the other issues I had.

Regardless of whether you prefer NVIDIA or AMD cards, unless you absolutely must have the fastest graphics card or enjoy benchmarking (oh, how dull...) then I'd recommend the fastest single GPU card over a multi-GPU one unless you have a lot of patience.

    Darren,

I ditched my Radeon 5970, I just couldn't handle the drivers anymore, totally at the end of my tether. I'm thinking about doing away with the idea of getting the 590 and getting a 580 instead, though not 100 percent sure. How's your experience been with the 580? How have your games been and what resolution you running? Can you crank games up to max settings and have you had any slowdown? What's your most demanding game?

Well Ι have a thing about smoothness in my game so thats why i choose multi gpu configurations!
I dont care about benchmarking at all!
I just need my games capped at 60 fps!
I know u will say i am prejudiced but thats just me:p

The reason I'm kind of wanting this GPU instead of buying the 580, but I'm no where near sure at this point in time.

    at 1920 x1280 its even at 2000x1200 the 6990 has a 3% lead
on drivers that were out for months...nv drivers will surpass this i would think in a short time.

Exactly! Both are about the same. My opinion so far 60:40 for 590. Depending on which games u use in test.
You need to know that 590 has only 607MHz!

Techpowerup blow up the card. 1.2V on air and boom. DEAD.
Card went 775MHz on stock voltage.

My Gigabyte is on the way

Yea. I'm perfectly fine with this, and it pushed me towards getting the 590 instead of the 580...
