Think it's just RC2 with an official badge? Anyway it's much faster than 3.6 so , nice!

and when i go to main FF site there is no news about Final yet, only RC2 released 3 days ago or old 3.6.15.

I believe they would have made it more visible if its not RC2 wouldn't you agree?

 

I downloaded and installed this exact same version last saturday and that was considered to be RC2
"Help > About" shows version "4.0" though (without RC, RC2 or whatever).

FF4 RC2 was the last official FF4 release.

I checked and it's digital signed version 4.42.0.0 March 20th. This was produced after the RC2 was released - they felt it was good enough for gold and signed off on it.

sorry to disagree but not here, i tried your first link and now the second from neowin and by both installers there is a 18.march.2011 18:53:43 time stamp


i reinstalled it again and when it starts FF it takes me to RC2 readme by both..

I think this version was initially meant to be final, but released as RC2 in the end. Don't know why they didn't change the version properly.
Btw teh websites are speaking of a probable release tomorrow, not today

The digital signatures on it is the same as RC2, so they are the same file, and the 'official' word is that it is RC, nothing about it being 'official'.

Mine shows the 18th, and I downloaded the one you linked.

 

I followed his link and its downloading 4.0, 2 days ago I downloaded RC2, it was written in the setup as well.

Download..don't download - don't care. Just telling you what I know based on what I've found. Really... no need for a witch hunt people.

 

As far as I know, the final version is going to be released tomorrow March 22nd. I hope so!. As for the version difference, if it doesn't say so at the official webpage, it's not final.

 

The name of the downloaded file may be different, but those "Firefox Setup 4.0.exe" and "Firefox Setup 4.0 RC 2.exe" are exact copies.

 

Just download it anywayz. I'm liking it, final version or not
