Egged on by the prospect of Battlefield 3 and Elder Scrolls Skyrim, I've decided to take the plunge and invest in a new build.

This build is going to be used primarily for gaming, especially CPU dependent games such as ARMA2.

So far I've spent any spare moments in the last few weeks looking at reviews and checking prices, and I've decided on a basic outline for my new build.

    Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Prohttp://store.cbccomputers.com/products.asp?partno=P8P67

    Processor: Intel i5 2500Khttp://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CPUs+%2F+Processors/Intel+Core+I5+(1155)/Intel+Core+i5-2500K+3.30GHz+(Sandybridge)+Socket+LGA1155+Processor+-+OEM+?productId=43635&source=googleps

    Power Supply: Antec Truepower 650W

Video Card: Sapphire HD5770 (I already have another and hope to use them in Crossfire)

    Case: Roswell Challengerhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153

I already have 4GB of Kingston value RAM, so that won't be a problem for the moment. Unless you would recommend getting something better?

Also, would any of you be able to recommend a good all-round hard-drive? I think my 320Gb stock hard-drive is on the way out!

    Thanks!

Looks fine. I did a build for a friend with the Challenger case and it's pretty good for the money.

Of course, you may want to get a better gpu at some point.

You may want to hold off a month or two and see what Bulldozer brings to the table as well as the new Intel chipsets.

Regarding the GPU, I think the crossfired 5770's will carry me for a while. I haven't seen many good affordable alternatives, unless you could recommend something.

What kind of price will the Bulldozer be sold for? I would hate to wait all that time for £300~ CPU.

    Thanks for the reply.

Why? The 2000 series is very power efficient as well as the 5770. Even crossfired 650 watts is plenty.

My crystal ball is not working atm. :) Not sure what the future holds but we shall see soon enough.

Your current rig is very capable. I really like the 2500K as well but patience is what I would recommend.

imo a 650 W good quality PSU will take enough care of this computer you want to build.
    but Kingston value ram...meh
ram is pretty cheap today .get some serious stuff from GSkill ,Corsair ,OCZ,Patriot..

Now that you say it, I think I should invest in some good quality RAM.

    Anybody have any suggestions.

Wait until the games you want come out and then buy a better graphics card. If Skyrim is anything like Oblivion was, your going to need a lot better video card than a 5770.

Crossfired they are the equivalent of a 5970, apparently.

Seeing that I already have one, another £97 for a second seems like a good deal.

I've heard plenty of good things about the 5770's crossfired.

OP is XFiring the 5770's :D

Build looks good to me. If you want better ram (ram is ram) I always suggest Mushkin. Better ram really only helps with overclocks in the long run. Mushkin has a nice kit on newegg for 1600 CL 7. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226103
