I'm kinda interested in this GTX590, if it's good I might even upgrade my gpu... Isnt that the way every company works ?
As i said previously, if Nvidia can make SLI scale as well as CF in the usual pick of games/benchmarks, then it should be faster than the 6990, and im pretty sure that is what they have been working on, as that will be ALOT easier to do than trying to lower power usage. I'm glad to see AMD go down the same route as Nvidia when it came to Dragon Age 2, its one of the reasons i've never considered AMD cards in the past, and if they can it more regularly and not just one game every two years, i would definitely consider switching sides again.

Only people who did not read thought that was the 590, EVGA stated it had 1gig of Vram per GPU and would beat the 480 at a cheaper price and do 3d surround on one card. This was a dead give away it was dual 460/560s to bad they waited so long to release it.
BTW, despite that clearly showing a SLI finger, Jacob Freeman, the EVGA product manager, says it is not capable of being run in SLI with another card. So NO Quad action here.
Have I missed something? I always thought that SLI scaled better than CFX? It supports more games too with more frequently released driver profiles... or am I wrong? I had a 4870x2 before my GTX480 and when it scaled it scaled very well but it had a ton of bugs in a lot of games. Texture corruption, flickering shadows, downgraded performance, or simply no support at all as ATI were always too busy making older games scale better rather than making profiles for newer games. SLI always seemed like a better choice than CFX to me.
I think before the 6000 series came out I think CF was behind SLI in scaling but now it seams to be more equal.
at the clocks they are speculating it shouldnt even beat the 6990. Someone on xs posted 580 sli at the speculated clocks and it lost almost all benches against 6990..so unless they turn the clocks up it shouldn't beat it out. The issue with nvidia is they are usually more power hungry and having a 375 tdp could cause this plan to not work out in their favor. we shall see soon enough though.
I'm sure they'll have a switch just like the 6990 so they can claim both low power and high performance but yeah the power thing will be interesting. If they are faster than 6990 this thing will cost at least £650, maybe £700 here which is absolute madness. I recently went from AMD to Nvidia and I have to say it really feels like their drivers are so much better. I have a ton less problems.
honestly i went from nvidia>ati>nvidia>ati and havent had any real issues with either.. i had some on 8800gtx when it first came out and a little on the 4870x2 when it first came out..but the next nvidia card was only a filler since i killed my x2 in a water accident and now the 6970 i have, no issues so far.. both camps have driver issues here and there. I haven't experienced any to myself in any recent years. But this also depends on games you play as well.
