The price and power consumption of this could be very scary........but so could the frame rates it produces.

Common sense will tell you that power consumption was always going to increase i mean there more a card uses the more it needs, this is why i bought a 1300w psu in 2008,cause i knew it wouldnt be too long when 1200w minimum for sli would be kinda standard.

Gpus are gonna take up more power in the future, obviously:)

i don't get why people even care about this card, you can get an SLi solution for cheaper and will be faster. the specs aren't very impressive. i'm sure 560 Ti SLi would spank it. i'm just speculating ;) .... don't :biggun:

Care is probably the wrong word for most people, it's just very interesting to see what sort of power can be put into a single card.

If it is clocked at 607 MHz, it will be:

    Shader performance:

    GTX 580 SLI : 1.00
    GTX 570 SLI : 0.89
    GTX 590: 0.79

    Memory bandwidth:

    GTX 580 SLI: 1.00
    GTX 590: 0.85
    GTX 570 SLI: 0.79

If it can't match the 570 SLI performance it will have a tough time against the 6990

A copy of what i have post under news threads.

If we trust VR-zone, they have the final spec. http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-geforce-gtx-590-final-specs-unveiled/11604.html

As promised, we now bring you the final specs of GeForce GTX 590 launching in a week's time :

    Codename D13U-50 GF110/P1020

    - CUDA Cores : 1024 (2x512)

    - Graphics Clock: 612MHz
    - Processor Clock: 1224MHz

    - Memory Clock: 3420MHz
    - Memory Config: 3GB GDDR5
    - Memory Interface: 2 x 384-bit

    Power Connectors: Dual 8-pin
    Dimensions: 11" x 4.5", Dual Slot

Ofc take it with a grain of salt, as i hardly believe thoses low clock speed and this can be old " clock speed " before 6990 release, let's wait more infos for confirm ( or not ) this .

But when i read the article of Fudzilla, look like it's possible, it's not Fuad who have write it, but the global ton of the article compared to the previous one have radically change.

Looks like the 6990 is gonna have its way with this one, However when the Water blocks come out this will be the H. champ. Now all we need to see is the price and that be its success or failure.

Huum don't forget if thoses clocks are true, this is the reference card, there's a good possibility Evga or Asus have non reference cards clocked higher who will even maybe be released/annonced on launch ....
( this can be even a good part of the decision to release the 590 with thoses lower clocks speed )

Who is remember the GTX460 or 560 reference/stock perf ? They was launch between 8 retail OC models, and all have retain the numbers of the OC ones
( and they was highly OC with +200mhz) ... It's something Nvidia have made a lot lately; Marketing wise it's really intelligent, This allow AIB to make low priced cards ( stock ) and increased cards value ( OC ),
then play on the prices between thoses ranges.

Let's not forget Nvidia have maybe increase the SLI scaling of the onboard PCI ex switch too ... who know.

It will if its only 612mhz, as that would put it around a 470, not a 570.

If it does get beat by the 6990 maybe it will be cheaper, If it where $599.99 or $649.99 it would still do well for a single card with 3d surround.

seeing as the 460 2win is $429 bucks I think the price will be much higher than $650 bucks IMO.
