AMD Catalyst 11.2 Driver download & Discussion

Well wait for next driver or Hotfix, Driver Feedback is the only way, Disabling pointer Shadow works , no lag with default cursor, but when we change to another cursor , even if we disable Pointer Shadow Lag there..... Weird Bug

 

It's really a matter of when rather than certainty.
I'm also sure it'll be fixed one of these days, but when?

I myself have never had that 100% GPU idle bug, but I still won't discount that problem as 'can't please everyone'.
In software development, the term 'can't please everyone' is applicable only to feature sets & user interfaces; bugfixing is not one of them.

When you think about it, it's probably not that weird.
The lag probably only occurs when there's a kind of post-processing or an extra step involved when rendering the mouse cursor, which is why if it's beyond the default, non-shadowed cursor, it'll lag nevertheless.

 

2nd time i have encountered the 100% gpu thing.


I hear there's a 11.2 hotfix that will fix that?

 

I'm getting kind of jealous, all these people with bugs and problems... I've never had one before.... Tell me all about it plz! To think I've been through more than ten cards, personally in the last ten years, and not one major problem or bug.... Darn....

I noticed that these drivers support MLAA and tessellation slider without modding the registry. Nice.

Hmm, just noticed that AMD Optimized is checked by default. Have to see if they got it working now.

 

True for the most part but, at lease they didn't make one set of drivers that cause all those GPU's to over heat on desktop, I remember those days with that one WHQL and Nvidia had to take it out of their driver download site.
I got that when I had my gtx 280 and it kill so many cards. My gtx 280 was plague with the dreadful PSOD. At lease my new 5870's are 100% hardware reliable for the time being and it has been almost a year now.
Drivers can be address and if current ones don't work well, you can always use the last best drivers. Ex the 10.10e since 11.1 & 11.2 cause my GPU to run at 99% on desktop after some gaming.

Goody for you. I've got a 4x6 pixel patch at the top right of my screen that looks like it may lag my cursor. Drives me insane, OMFG fix it AMD or I'll cut myself.

No REAL problems here either. Installed over top like always, reboot, profit.
To be fair, the 10.x set sucked rocks with the pink hue issue, but in 8 years, that and the AF in Dragon Age debacle were the only problems I had. At least the drivers didn't shut down my cooling fan and brick my card.

My issues with drivers are them not supporting features which could be supported (transparency AA in Dx10/11 anyone ?) and disabling features in specific games instead of fixing the problems (see latest CAP, and its not the first time).

 

I don't think they already implemented it.
If there's no mention on the changelog then it can be safely presumed that that setting doesn't mean anything, just like what 11.1 changelog said.

Maybe they just don't know this quote (from a song, heh).

 

Yes it's checked but have no impact yet on performance, as writed in release note: - AMD tesselation work by profile ( CAP ), no profile exist yet.

About Transparency, i have trade it since a while for 16xMSAA .. need say i have not check lately. but i was remember it work on different games ( maybe not in BC2 but it's related to their engine. ).
