Well they both have the same two year warranty.

Seagate is ripping you off by making the USB 3.0 adapter as a secondary item (not included, and costs $20 USD from their site) And if you don't get that extra adapter from them, it wont be a USB 3.0 drive.

Get the Western Digital, it has USB 3.0 already in it, and it will be a lower price in the end.

I've always used Western Digital hard drives, been using different models of them for the past five years and the only one that failed was one that I myself knocked over :bang:

    Question though: Why only 500GB?

thanx......well 500gb is the only one that comes in the budget....since there is about 30$ difference in my country between 500 and 750gb...and 1tb is quite above.....and we r students who dnt get much to spend on such stuff :)......and yea, seagate will prove more expensive.....

My opinion is to always buy an enclosure and hard drive separately, that way you can have whatever size and features you wish.

i live in pakistan......and about the enclosure, we dont have much variety here for that kind of stuff....the hardware variety is quite limited too....so we have to opt for either seagate or WD...and i guess WD will be the choice now becuz it offers all in a cheaper price tag.....thanx for the help guys

That idea isn't always good, nor is it cheaper.

The new Western Digital 3TB external w/ USB 3.0 is $180 USD.

An internal WD 3TB is $210 USD plus the price of an external enclosure.

That, coupled with most external enclosures take up more space than they should and most don't look nice at all.

Pakistan eh? Yeah I can imagine things being a lot more expensive there with less variety.

In the end the WD is the better choice. But you're welcome!

well things r almost the same price as in US.....but those things which r not common r expensive....people just put their own prices becuz of lack of competition and most people here dont know stuff about hardware so they dont complain....WD passport usb3 is of 70$ here....i guess thats fair enuf considering shipping...
