what an unlucky comparison...they are not even near on price/cost ratio...:bang:

people should also compare them on same price range...as i7 870 and i7 940,950

now a race with i7 965, 975, 980x, 990x, it's just madness...i7 2600k has half price, even one third...hehehehe...it's unfair to see overpriced beasts to lose or even matched...owners and future buyers would stop giving so much money...

WTH is with prices in Australia $329 aus for i7 2600 $399 aus for i7 2600k.

Good, because I'm getting one.

My i680 Board died, and I'm sure as hell not going for another. Since the NV Chipsets are the only socket 775 option for SLI, I can as well move ahead. Was going for an i7 950, but with the 2600K this fast and cheap, I'll rather get that one.

 

Gay that they made ''new'' sockets for these and the upcoming high end line. But then again they can afford it looking at how poor competition AMD provides so far.

I will not get them simply because for gaming the benefit is minor, but for those still on lga 775 especially dual cores going for this or the upcoming 1356 is a worthy investment no doubt.

 

fast but useless for me. I use my rig to play games and again @1920 I see nothing higher than 5% more performance gain with 2600K for example:3eyes:.

For those who still own an AthlonX2 or C2Q's it may be a worthy upgrade but for all others that own an i7 or an PII it will be a waste of money or they buy it to play Sandra benchies all day long:stewpid:.

Note - Before we start the game benchmarks we need to mention the following - we are currently revising the game test suite and hardware involved - we have removed the Radeon HD 5870 from the suite and have switched to the GeForce GTX 580. Starting in 2011 we'll also switch from 4 GB memory to 8 GB system memory. As a result we can't use older game results any longer and thus very*little comparative material is to be found for the moment. Over time the results will build up again. We have chosen the GTX 580 as it is currently the fastest single GPU based graphics card on the globe, excellent for demonstrating CPU versus GPU changes -*and CPU bottlenecks.

Maximus IV Extreme do you think does 4.6GHz would be wise to work 24/7 on air?

do you feel with msi you could anchive 5GHz easily?

i guess the bad news is can't work a graphics card and still make use of QuickSync with IGP disabled on P67; this kind of OC it's only possible with K SKUS; if we really want to make use of Transconding then we must have H67 or Z68!; no support for linux

 

Anyone care to explain what's so special about this Z67 that i keep hearing about, feel free... ^^

 

you mean Z68 it's the upcoming intel chipset wich will alow to unlock IGP
or some features of it like using Intel QuickSinc with a discrete graphics card

Show me gaming benches clock for clock i7 vs 2500/2600k (not synth benches like 3dmark). I just shake my head at the number of reviews that put a 3.4ghz SB vs a 2.6 or 2.9ghz i7 and concluding how much better it is. There are many apps it does indeed perform better clock for clock (more so synth benches), but in gaming I think the difference between SB and Bloomfield is negligible.

 

The SB is still an i7
