this is a fail... :) not even a good one release... ;) and not even close to what 10.12 really meant to be...that's why it dint had support for 6000 series anyway.

Why are you still posting this nonsense perosmct, your now claiming you know more about all this than any other journalist, even the guys over at SemiAccurate have accepted the card is ony as fast as a GTX570.

Can someone do something about him please?

Observing the profession he gave up in his profile, maybe we should hire him to kill himself.

But he does kindle the hope, that a decent driver update will give the 6970 some significant performance boosts.

maybe he is going to cite his source (atiman) saying the 'final driver' is on its way to surface?

Guys.. This is typical AMD in action. Their next gen refresh is always right behind nvidia's flagship and priced appropriately. You guys keep cheering on about yeah we need a new great architecture! AMD hasnt changed theirs much since 2900xt and nvidia since the 8800gtx.

It's the same cuda with some spiffy new add-ons. just spent a bit of time googling just to be sure. I am by no means knocking it. What the gaming industry really lacked was a hardware standard to go with the api. I also believe this makes it easier to enhance performance across with driver updates and in games.

I don't know about you, but it looks to me like 6970 CF gives the GTX 580 SLI a run for the money:

Remember the price: 6970: $369 USD, GTX 580: $519 USD

Looks like a 6990 would destroy the GTX 580.

So does GTX570 in SLI, and that is $40 cheaper than a 6970 CF setup.

A 6990 will destroy a GTX580, but not a GTX595 though, so will be interesting to see who get the next dual gpu card out.

    Those are some strange results.

    Stalker:
580 is 6.7% faster than 6970, but somehow 6970 CF is 7.2% faster than 580 SLI.

    BF:BC2:
580 is 19.9% faster than 6970, but 580 SLI is only 1.7% faster than 6970 CF.

I think it's more of a driver issue or a CPU bottleneck than the fact that 6970 has 2gb of memory.
But you know what, maybe 6900's CF scaling is really that good. We will know when multi-card reviews are out.

    Crysis' result looks normal.

Its a driver issue, CF scaling is better in some games than SLI, while some games its the other way round, fanboys of each side will pick and choose which results to link to though lol.

As for multi-gpu setups, review sites make it look alot better than it really is, which is why forums are full of people with issues.
I'm far more concerned with CF/SLI support than scaling, i would rather have 50% scaling in 100% of game, than 100% scaling in 50% of games, and that 50% of games is very very generous.

^ they do, it's called nVidia surround, but you need at least two cards for it

nvidia has its own eyefinity called "vision surround", but you need SLI for it to work.

EDIT: Damn, you beat me to it.
