Well it was less the heat i was concerned with, but the low fan speed, but the temps do look high as:
    1. It hotter than a GTX580, and
    2. The review was in Russia lol.

I know AMD GPU's idle at 25% fan, but surely it should of ramped up alot higher if the GPU is 92c.

Think people are expecting too much from these drivers, but either way, the fact the cards are having driver issues before they are out, doesn't help dispell the "AMD/ATI cards have crap drivers" stigma.

Amd reference cards don't go above 40% fan speed since the 5000 series. It's a trade off between temp / noise as you know :)

I need some sleep now :)

I didn't know that, a friend has a 6850 as well, will check his temps at the weekend, might need to change some stuff, as he has his house very warm.

In my opinion, if the GPU is at 92c, and the fan is at 40%, that isn't a trade off, that is asking for trouble.

At default fan profile, my 570 gets warm too you know :) 85c and the fan is still in low RPM :( I need to set it to go up to 75% when it reaches 60c..at 75% it can maintain 65c ish temps though

I realise that, its not the heat, its the low RPM i think is madness, these cards aren't meant for HTPC setups, so i think fanspeed should be a touch more agressive.

Thankfully my card and my country is cold, so i rarely see temps go past 60c.

Hmmmm, can't wait for the reviews to be uploaded by Hilbert :p BTW, how many hours left guys? I'm suck at counting time difference (lol). Maybe I'll skip the reference cards and waiting for either HIS or Sapphire release these cards with custom-cooled design (iCooler / Vapor-X), probably will wait until they make the Turbo version as well :p

Well according to the specs, a minimum 500w PSU is recommended for the 6970, so looks like ill manage

I feel sorry for early 6870 adopters.
Surely their price has to drop, it looks like the 6950 really competes with OC GTX 460s and stock 470s and the 6870 might end up priced to compete with the OC 460 768mbs. Man I think we're in store for all sorts of price reshuffling in the midstream. Can't wait!

as is the case with the 570 i suppose..low rpm at stock speeds 92c and 85c isnt that much different to me :) users just need to adjust fan profiles to get better temp and noise balance :)

    Just for reference:
    GTX580 on air hit 79-80 C.
On water (current) Kombustor raise temp 35 C only

now what's all this fuss about temps..

Ignore him said the same about 6870 before its release, apparently they where to hot and that never happened at the release, so this complaining is nothing new.:wanker:

Looks like we're still in the same boat choosing a new card. God damn all of these releases!!!! Now with that russian site mentioning a 560 rumor in Jan I really don't know what to do!
