hooking pc and ps3 up to same monitor

hi i have just orderd a hdmi to dvi cable so i can run ps3 thru monitor only thing is its only got 1 dvi connection on monitor is their any decent cheap switchers that alow me to connect monitor up to pc and ps3 at same time also does it effect quility

 

Get a HDMI splitter (Ebay or Amazon). I got a 5 port HDMI splitter so that my PC, 360 and PS3 can share I DVI input. Thus from my monitor to the splitter's output is a DVI-I to HDMI adapter. Then using 3 of the 5 available inputs the splitter is connected via HDMI leads. You don't need to get a super expensive one because it is Digital and anyone who says any differently is lying through their nose. Don't get super cheap either or you will be plaged with green dotted artifacts which are very distracting as i found out when i got my first one at Amazon. Luckily they allowed me to send it back and i got a superior one from Ebay.

of note, there is no requirement to have a switcher box that is powered, I had a manual switch and it worked fine

 

Also you thought what you're going to do about the PS3's sound?

 

yeah plug ps3 av cable in and connect red and white wires up to rca adaptor and cannect pc speakers to it then configure in sound settings

 

just tryed it out works a treat outputing at 1080 with sound;-)

 

got a 32inch hd tv instead so gonna hook xbox 360 and ps3 up to tv via hdmi cables

 

I'll get one of these eventually. Reaching back to unplug the cable is a pain in the butt.
