that's just it they optimized it for 460gtx since 260.xx and it runs allot worse on other gpus,. I saw someone with 480gtx that had the same issue as me, noticeable slowdowns at certain moments; for example 2nd 3dvision flash when it shows the cars - it laggs really bad. It's ok after, but that's not the point because it was fine before with older drivers prior 260.xx

I wasn't using the GTX460 though, i had it out for a night, as someone wanted to try SLI, so i thought i would see how the old GTX260 held up, idle temps were not far off what the GTX460 hits in Furmark, but apart from that i had no issues with performance, definetly no hitches etc.

But the PC needs a spring clean, and since i only used one set of drivers, i will take out the GTX460 again, and try the GTX260 with Dirt2, and a few other games with 258/259/260 drivers when i get home.

If you do not want any stutters in movies with GeForce ForceWare 260 drivers do this:

This is how to get smooth playback in movies.

First download ReClock and install him, (I use ReClock 1.8.7.1 beta) then start
Configure ReClock and in Audio settings then Devices
to use with, DirectSound:, and set him on the right audio channel, i use
SPDIF so i set him on SPDIF interface, then go to Bitstream and enable
Accept bitstream format, and disable Disable media Speed
Correction. if i do not enable Accept bitstream format i get
strange crackling sounds in my movies.

Now go to Video Settings and set Frame rate
detemination on 23.976 fps, now click on OK and your done.

Ow do not forget to set in MPC the audio on the same channel (i have SPDIF
interface so i have set him in MPC also on the same, also its best to disable
AC3 and DTS in MPC, that you can find in View then
Options and then Internal Filters, this is the best so you have
no audio problems in movies, and then download AC3Filter and install him and
go to AC3Filter Config and enable Use SPDIF (if you use SPDIF, digital audio)
and set Output format on 3/2+SW 5.1 channels if you have 5.1
audio, then go to SPDIF and enable AC3 and DTS and hit Apply,
now you are all done, and you can watch all your favorite movie without
stutter and Dolby Digital and DTS

All thanks go to Redemption80, He was the one who said that I had to
    use ReClock

I had the same problem on installation that I've had with the other 260.xx drivers. Doing a custom install even though I had Physx selected it failed to install and had to be run manually after the driver installation had finished.

Apart from that they seem pretty good drivers up to now.

these drivers are absolutely better than 260.89 in Fallout New Vegas(artifacts and white snow around objects are now gone), though there still are some performance issues. I still get a noteable FPS drop when fighting multiple enemies at the same time. Maybe the next set of drivers will sort this out, or maybe the game need to be patched..

hey does this new driver install for nvidia drivers allow us to not to install there audio drivers for the card? cause I never gonna use the HDMI out on the card 460 card i just bought to replace my 9800, and I dont want there drivers messing with my on board sound and I dont use SPDIF , Just the plain old RCA out on the on board sound.

Hey guys, do you trust the new nvidia installer to make clean install like it says? I'm alittle skeptic about it not even prompt for reboot or anything?

awesome driver, but obsidian needs to get off their collective asses, don't just fix the console versions the community shouldn't have to fix the multitude of problems wrong with NV.

That said, the games alot more fun than fallout 3, that game was such a borefest to me.

You can also just extract the folder to wherever you want, and delete the HDAudio driver folder.

GTX460 in SLI, and Fallout NV still needs the .dll with 260.99 for me.
