    hello again,
    yes,iam upgrading from onboard.i read the sticky about frame rate increases,wonder if the 5850 with dedicated soundcard will hit same frame rate as my 5870 without onboard sound?
    i will do some bench marks and find out.

    i just noticed from looking at the motherboard manual, the size of the via chip that makes the sound.that is no where near the size of the X-fi Titanium iam getting.
    thanks.
    yours,
    @renadier

    Yes, this card is only stereo for analog output but can encode your games to surround and send it out over S/Pdif (digital) to your speakers.

    For new cards there is the Xonar Xense bundle, the Titanium Card and USB unit and the Auzentech X-Meridian 2G 7.1. Those are the latest cards and have been talked about a few times. There are threads, press releases, sneak peeks..etc.

    Thanks for the reply,gonna do some research:)

    Does the Meridian have EAX 5.0? Im kinda leaning towards this card now,its not just meant for stereo like some cards and i dont mind using creative drivers,they never game me a problem. Well Aug. has passed,no release date on this card?

    No, the XM 2G is not a Creative based card. Sometimes products do not come out when they are originally reported to. Should be around soon;)
    There are only a couple cards that are meant for only stereo output.
