Where do you go for your pre-orders and are they reliable? I always used to go with Play.com but they've let me down a couple of times. I'm looking to pre-order some games and I want them guaranteed on the day of release or preferably before. Any suggestions? UK only.
Similarly Play.com let me down at Xmas and still havent replied to multiple enquiries! One missed Christmas present They get no more business from me.
Steam usually unlocked the game on release day, which would be later than early sale of some store in the US. They also have different release date for games depend on the game's publisher will. So steam is reliable to some extent that you will get it on release day, never before (you can pre-load some game as well but it is locked and encrypted).
I pre-ordered MW2 with steam too and was annoyed when my friend got his copy from 'Game' 2 days early. But then he couldn't even install it until release day because you had to install through Steam even if you had a retail copy. Not sure if Black Ops will only be using Steam too.
I find GAME (and Gameplay too) are great, typically sending new releases out on a Wednesday so I get them the next day, one day ahead of their official release. Occasionally they've been late but 99% of the time they're reliable. Amazon are pretty hit and miss as many times they've not sent games out until Thursday or even Friday in some cases meaning that I'm less likely to get them for their Friday release. Don't like Play.com for new games releases though as they take two to three days to deliver where I live in East Yorkshire. I do use them for new Blu-ray movie releases though.
steam are ****, empire total war remember everyone? play have been good, they didnt get GTA4 to me on day of release, but gave me a £5 voucher so i cancelled the order, used my £5 and got it brand new on ps3 for £25, two days after release
In my experience gameplay.co.uk has been the best, every game i've pre-ordered has either arrived early or on luanch day. http://www.gameplay.co.uk/
Not saying this is bad, but for clarity: The IP address my PC connects to shows the domain used is that of game.co.uk
Game have always been fast and good price wise although I don't do pre-orders anymore unless it is to get a beta key and cancel.. otherwise it's for mugs.
I always pre-order with Amazon.co.uk because they usually cheaper. I have never had any problems with them. The in store prices at GAME are pretty high for my liking.
How could I forget Amazon! They are brilliant too and most of the time you will get your item quicker than expected and they have almost everything and generally their prices are great.
Well GAME has it's own site which is different (unless they own gameplay like they also own gamestation), i find though that gameplay have better prices in general and faster delivery.
