Im building a new system. Which would be better a single 5850 or 2 5770 in CF?

Ill also be running an i5 760, 4 GB Gskill Trident DDR3 2000 ram, and a Cosair 650W PSU

swings and roundabouts tbh , the 5850 will proberly have a higher min fps but the crossfired 5770's will proberly beat it in some games . tbh i wish i had gone for a single 5850 or 5870 , to many problems with drivers etc

HD5770 crossfirex can beat even the hd5870 but that depends on the game if support the multi-gpu properly

Close call. Lots of variying factors. The games, the drivers. In the end you might be talking 10-15 fps difference between the two gfx set ups.

I would go for the 5850. You could get another one down the line.

Thats fascinating, how does your little 5770 perform with all your other top range hardware?

Im thicking of upgrading soon and looking at a top line CPU, but not sure because it might be slightly overkill.
    (my res 1680 x 1050)

5850 will be a the better choice. A single card has less issues then crossfire does.

Two GTX 460's beat all of the above.

I'd always take a single card over a multi-gpu configuration.

GTX460 is 240 euros each and 5870 is 330 euros so yeah beat but they are more expensive.

5850/5870 your more assured of your performance, then if you want like it was mentioned you can add another card.
