Fermi Cards - Powersavings Driver Issue (GTX460 only or all Fermis)

yeah i see that point...but its it really an issue under typical usage?

i just find it weird that only 5 people outta the rest have said this is a problem

 

I think, this is problem because other manufacters doesnt have it. Gigabyte must be cheched cards, before selling it.

 

nope, not only gigabyte, also others too...if u guys would read the whole thing and compare u would notice...

but i have to admit the poll is not very good...
anyway...its PROVEN that it is happening with p45 chipsets and downwards.. go to the gigabyte forum or read here..

Same problem here, worked fine with my previous ATI HD4850.

Now I've got better graphics performance but stuttering audio and high latency spikes when the GPU throttles down. Disabling the Nvidia card solves the problem. Not ideal considering I mainly use my pc for audio recording and editing.

CPU: Intel Q9550
Mobo: MSI P35 Neo2-FR
GPU: MSI GTX 460 Cyclone OC 1GB
Driver: 258.96
RAM: 8GB DDR2
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64/Vista Home 64/XP Home 32bit triple boot (happens in both 7 & Vista, not tried XP yet)

I also get these spikes when in low power mode, but they rarely happen when in full power 3d mode.
nvidia knows about this now and hopefully it will be fixed with future driver or bios updates.

My GTX460 has been suffering from massive stuttering...whereas my HD4850 does not. Appears nVidia has a few flaws in the drivers for these cards....which is extremely common and will be fixed once nVidia knows the cause and solution.

Now, if you don't have anything creative to post....stop trolling.

hmm, i tested that now..
makes no difference at all. i deinstalled everst also to check again..still the same, installed everest again, same..
but i dont have this big issues like the guys postet there in the lavasys forum..

But THX for this info...i rarely use everst, mostly only for benchmark to see if OC was changing something...

i installed everst 5.50.2100, that is supposed to not have these issues...
But DPC spoikes are still the same...only when i deaktivate the GTX460 in Hardware manager the spikes are totaly gone...

I'm curious, how are you able deactivate the 460 in device manager and yet still have a display? Disabling the card through Device Manager obviously stops it working...:3eyes:

 

wooops. did i say deactivate?? sorry man, that was, logical very wrong..hehe...what i meant was deinstall the Nvidia drivers from hardware manager and have that big ass resolution then, after u did that the DPC isuues are gone also....

hmm, but maybe i should try deaktivate it, lets see what happens..but first i nneed to know if the screen goes black..if i can go to safe mode windows and see something so i can get this working again...if so, i will test ..argh..

I read something posts on nvidia forum, and i think this is only driver issue. because DPC problem discussed on gt220, 250, and on ion platforms.

Tested 2 different GTX460 in my PC (P45 chipset, config in the sig)

Cards tested:
1st: Palit GTX460 768MB (standard non-sonic, non platinum edition) with 3 different BIOSes from Palit - high spikes are always there when card is in 2D idle mode
2nd: Gigabyte GTX460 1GB OC-edition - high spikes are always there when card is in 2D idle mode

Driver used: 258.96 WHQL
OS: Windows 7 x64

I've also tested my spare GeForce G210 512MB using the same drivers - no spikes there in idle 2D mode.
