No, no, no. This is a middle-aged twat bonking his gitar on video.

Has anyone suggested Thin Lizzy, whiskey in the jar yet?

Comfortably Numb is a melody suited for being played loud enough to measure on the Richter Scale as opposed to in dBa... ;)

Man that is a tough question to answer. I don't think I can name just one... Actually I would say that it just changes all the time.

But I'll have to say Joe Satriani will have been the most on my list. Just about any of his solo's are just really great - always very well played.

Good playing, but hardly original.Stolen actually. From the tap style, to the notes played.

    The hell you say????

Yup.Check out Ace Frehley's solo on Kiss Alive 2.Now compare the dates between that album, and the VH album.

Hmm, there are way too much great guitar solos out there...

This one just came to my mind, really great solo by Petrucci:

The Spirit Carries On - Dream Theater (from 2:50 onwards in the song :)

    Cheers

I'm also a huge Dream Theater fan, and a guitar player (are there actually any non-musician DT fans?). I remember an interview with Petrucci telling the tale of him struggling to finish that solo, sitting in the studio with Mike Portnoy, bouncing ideas off him. It's basically him channeling Gilmour, and then throwing on some patented Petrucci shred runs.

Speaking of Gilmour, his playing always gets me. I enjoy and play lots of technically-oriented stuff, but hand me a guitar and I usually play the 'Time' solo. I love it!

to me without a doubt "Van Halen - Love Walks In" the solo by Sammy Hagar during the Live '86, it's not very technical but this solo has always touched me like no other solo and imo it's the best solo i've ever heard.

it's even better than the original solo played by Eddie Van Halen himself, it's different too.

2:20 to 3:05 , then the epic final solo @ 3:55 till the end.
