fan speed 71 percent. atm am using xfire with boths fans at 35 percent...

lets not mention heat and fan speed please. we all know nvidia latest suck at that compared to 5 series. only a twit would bring it up :)

op next time you might have to spell it out a bit more. seems people have comprehension dificulties or cant ask a question before opening their mouths assuming they have the facts right. sheesh.

the coolers on the 5800 series are surprisingly efficient. when i still had the factory coolers on mine, 25% fan speed was sufficient to keep two 5850s at 960/1200 below 70 degrees at full load. no voltage increase was required as well. so ati wins in this regard.

ati cards are also cheaper, which more than makes up for the 5% difference. in some stores in australia, the 5870 is at least $130 cheaper, so its a more cost effective upgrade.

that and crysis is an nvidia game. compare every other game released, and the difference between the 5870 and gtx480 is minimal at best.

Price / performance , the ATi cards are superior to the nVidia pars....

That's a market fact. The increase in performance nVidia provides does not justify the increase in the final product price (too expensive, when compared)

Aside from that, it's a free market you you can buy whatever you want, for tastes, there are colors..........

At the end of the day, >100 euros diff bt 2 products means a lot, and whatever the min fps are low on some games or not, won't make a diff, having a power gpu for >100 euros less, will do.

    To each to their own.

We are discussing the ROG MATRIX 5870 here, so please let's keep to the facts.
Here in the Netherlands the cheapest ROG MATRIX 5870 is 449 EUR in e-tail (tweakers.net/pricewatch); the cheapest by Point of View, GTX480 is 429 EUR, also in e-tail, same pricewatch.

So suddenly all your p/q reasoning doesn't make sense anymore, does it?

@Sever, other delirious individuals: Besides, to the ones speaking about silence/thermal efficiency, the ROG MATRIX is made to be OC'd high at very very high voltages, yielding very considerable thermal output... stock version heats up to 71c with 41% fan, please don't tell me that with 1.2v+ and considerable OC it will work under 25% fan on full load? Let alone that Sever talks here about the HD5850, which is a different product and out of discussion completely.

@Ibitato: I completely agree, but only in case of stock HD5870 vs stock GTX480, reference board versions.
