    Hi guys

Got Blur yesterday and I could not help but notice the poor performance FPS performance in this game , stages with water espesially.

Basically my Cat AI was set at advanced , all you have to do it turn off Cat AI when playing this game and bam performance will increase ten fold.

that's most likely because crossfire isn't working.

I leave AI disabled all the time since I discovered the boost in frames it gave on games like Gears of War Overlord 2 it would drop to the 40-50's but after disabling AI it locked the frames at 60fp in those games and others.. My guess is since it's not doing any extra AI work it can perform better..

even if crossfire isnt working he still should get good framerates...me with my gtx 285 i get 50 + on 1920x1080 with 8x AA and max details and vsync on and he with only half a 5970 should be getting 60+ at least

In some games, performance can be drastically reduced when Crossfire is enabled with a crossfire setup, vs crossfire disabled.

In a game called Lead and Gold, people got around 20 fps with Crossfire Enabled, and 110 with it disabled.

It's different from normal games where if you have a 5970, you'll get the performance of around a GTX 285. You'll get the performance of a 7600 GT with crossfire enabled, and around a GTX 285 with it disabled in games like Lead and Gold and Blur that aren't optimized for dual GPUs.

Blur works great with Grid crossfire profile.
So if you want decent performance, simply launch the game with Grid profile (alternatively, rename the exe in Grid.exe).

It worked great for me: it is now smooth even in eyefinity mode.

Poor performance here as well...so it isn't a CROSSFIRE problem. Split Second runs silky smoth compared to this piece of ****.

Haven't tried disabling the CATALYST AI ....

Lol, how can you say silky smooth when Split/Second has a 30 FPS cap?
Anyways, I'm enjoying the split screen, it's so awesome.
    Can't wait to get Blur.

Renaming Blur.exe to GRID.exe gives me a constant 60 fps but the game still hitches and totally pauses for a second of the SanFran Russian Hill track on the big downhill jump. It also causes flickering during loading and post-race. So while it works better and at least allows CrossFireX, it is not perfect. I really wish ATI would get off their backsides and release updated application profiles more regularly than once every two months!!!!!!

Blur is awesome! It looks and works better than Split/Second
Here, High quality at 1280x960@AAx4 Constant 30~50 fps
Not the best, but, considering my outdated machine, it rocks!

Gonna try renaming the exe to GRID and see if there is any improvement here.

    Lulwut?

Dirt2.exe is better to use than grid.exe as you don't get the horrible flickering on the menus. Turning off CATAI to disable AFR gives you better performance than either as this game isn't particularly AFR compatible.

Yeah, thanks. DiRT2.exe works better and gives me 60 fps most of the time but the framerate still oddly feels lower than what MSI Afterburner is telling me. It's hard to explain, it's just the whole feel and the way the game updates makes it seem like it's sub-20 fps at times even though the framerate count is 60 fps! Weird or what?

I'll quote your sig again in case you didnt spot your deliberate error :)
    "lCore2Quad 2.8Mhz@3.49Hhz "

I'm not sure what an lCore2Quad is but they arent very quick to start with at 2.8MHz.
Then you declocked to some other kind of frequency... unless Hhz are like 1 million times faster than normal Hz.
Even so, it would only be running at 3.49MHz which is still kinda slow these days.

    I recommend getting a real Core2Quad.

so, what driver is the best for this game? just bought it also.
i'm on the leaked 10.6 beta now (the 8.740.0.0) and wondering whether i should go for 10.5a or some other set for this game. any input appreciated.
