    Guys,

A few days back i decided to go WC my GTX480's in SLI.
Orderd some stuff .. EK GTX480 waterblock, swiftech rad etc ...

But now i have booted up my system and testing for leaks but upon logging in to windows i was greeted with a 800x600 desktop. So i guessed that i maybe had switch'd the cards during install, no bigg tho just reinstalling the new and improved 256 drivers and ill be a happy gamer once more !..

Well noTT ...:bang:, i cleaned the drivers (driversweeper/safemode etc) reinstalled, rebooted and looking at the win 7 boot logo and BAM blackscreen and nothing ...:pc1:
Numlock doesnt respond also so i rebooted again ... nothing.

So into safemode once more cleaned out everything and booted back into windows (Win7 x64 Pro installed )
Then everything boots up fine and all is great so oke i have a driver issue, so i let windows install the standaard VGA drivers to see if they are seen correctly .... and here comes my issue..

The top card doesnt get the standard VGA driver from windows (Couldnt start the device) ... i was like ow **** :bang::puke2::biggun:

So i decided to install the 197.75 and what do you know it boots up !!, then i quickly fired up stone-gaint benchmark and tested the temps ...
33C Idle and 40C while benchmarking .. GREAT! I noticed that i didnt turn SLI on so i did and was greeted with a NVDDKLM etc BSOD !.

    So recap:

    - Driver 256 = blackscreen/crash when entering desktop.
    - Standard VGA = driver cant be installed on the first card.
    - Driver 197.75 = Boots to desktop and can run a game/demo but SLI = NVDDM.sys BSOD ..

I dont know what the **** to doooo !!! :3eyes:

Some input would be really nice !

Edit: Trying to run Furmark with the 197.75 results in a NVDMMK.sys BOSD

looks to me as a terrible driver issue which could be caused by terrible nvidia drivers (not only ATI that s.u.c.k.s. at this chapter) or you managed to damage one of your cards during the process:3eyes:. Check again the integrity of the GPU board to see if something is missing.

the only change was going from air cooling to h20? cards worked 100% on air. doesnt sound like a driver issue to me

The BSOD's could be memory of GPU .. u sure u are cooling the memory banks aswell with H2O ?

I think so too but nothing is missing/scratch'd.

Yep working 100% on air before the upgrade too SLI

Im using the EK-FC480 Copper Acetal block, its a full cover block!

Sitting Idle its 33C and while benchmarking 1 card (SLI isnt working it gets 40c...

Yeah did that in the NVCP --> BSOD. How can i check the Ram and VRM temps ? ive read that Nvidia didnt include it into the driver to monitor via e.x. Afterburner / Evga P.

Well i had to drill out 2 screws that were stripped and so i had to take out the entire fan housing (plastic clips are broken) so i cant mount it anymore.. (call me n00b and stupid)

Awesome find dude... i just stumbeld onto it myself !!! Going to try it now ...

u got to be jokeing doing that means no rma for a start also there could be bits of ALU all over the place

all herd load of peeps striping them seems alot had them from the start kinder like a good way to stop us sending them back for rma tbh unless u go with thee likes of evga

I agree with the above post, you could have tiny metal fragments left over from the screws knocking about on the pcb somewhere.

Hehe yeah i kinda left that bit out .... didnt have to shoud it out already :p ..

But i think thats my main issue tho i used a small vacum cleaner at a distance to suck everything out ...
But ive taken them out of the loop and start looking for ALU !

Edit: Also forgot to mention i had to drill 2 screws out of each card. :p

And tbh i knew from the start that i could lose my warrenty since a few peepz were reporting weak/stripped screws ... Ill just buy another one if this one is really ****ed up :3eyes:

Tin of compressed air blast the whole card, fragments can get in most places you can't see.
