ATi Catalyst 10.5 Released - Official Thread

Check Driver&Support download page.
"Catalyst Software Suite (64 bit) English Only" include only Drivers + CCC.
You can download from the same page "ATI CrossFireX™ Application Profiles" and "Avivo Video Converter"

If you mix old & new drivers, you can encounter some problems. I like uninstall with ATi uninstall program, reboot on safe mode > driver sweeper and driver cleaner > reboot and install.

 

I'll throw my card on ebay and order a new one from the green team ...

 

I hope you have a lot of money and a great atx power supply and much cooler case :ying:

 

This doesn't work. as soon as editing is done, it reverts back to the defaulted values. The file is not read only either. edit and save.

how to get around this?

Enable ATi overdrive, click apply your OC settings, close CCC and after modify profiles.xml.
Now you can reboot Windows or restart CCC.

 

thanks for your input. mix and match works if you do it right, sometimes the combination gets hosed.

but if done right you can get the updated, versions from the betas and so forth. first thing is to install the most updated version in this case 8.74, but, 3D menu doesn't scroll, so, install 10.4, then uninstall just the display driver, and install OGL4, --this mix gets you the Video Converter Menu in CCC. While just plain OGL4 doesn't.
Then to install the latest HDMI, AMD USB, and the IDE + Northbridge install 8.74. And everything works just fine. Now I've found the problem being the Profiles manager when switching from 10.4 to 8.74 and 10.5. This gets screwed some how. No matter even after doing a complete wipe of ATI from the system. driver sweeper, registry, manual deletes. The Profile Manager is the problem, or the intertwinings of CCC to Profile manager to the driver itself. something is left out. that's where the problem lies.

To get to the newer sets, have to uninstall just the Display Driver, and then install 10.5 Display driver, because 8.74 has newer drivers for the rest of the stuff. 10.5 has OGL4 and 8.74 has OGL3.2. 10.5 has newer D3D. So therein may get some better results, but GTX480 crushed, 5870. So, there you go.

I'm ex-nVidia user of 8800 GT. Much hot and very breakable.
And not perfect drivers (with 196.xx i've encountered very strange and huge problems with World of Warcraft). Fermi, I suspect, It's more weak of 8800 GT
We don't have an "perfect vga atm", but without overdrive, I've not problem today with Catalyst 10.5. With some games, I must enable triple buffering with third part tools. But isn't a big problem for me

I edited MemoryClock to read '102000' in 'Want_2'
edited CoreClock to read 78500 in 'Want_2'

After reboot, I look at CCC, the Want_2 values are running instead of the
'Want_0' values. So I make the change in CCC to read 157/500MHz as it's the default for this card so far. This isn't by far correct. It should be 157/250MHz

The voltage values are incorrect so I changed them to read 950/1000/1100 respectively. After reboot, switches back to the above printed material.

Anyone else experience this?

 

Can you explain me what's the target of your modify? I'am a little confused

For expand CCC limit you must modify and flash your bios.
With this drivers, we can't have low/idle memory clocks.

Using 10.x (Driver Packaging Version 8.74-100406a-098262E-ATI), no more flickering on my second screen when I overclock the cards.

 

Without having to go through moding the bios.

the OGL4 March 29 Preview runs at 157/500MHz with overdrive set to
785/1020MHz in the sliders. I forgot to pin the attachment.

I'm referencing 2D clocks and voltages. Not the 3D. 10.5 doesn't work like that. The Profile manager also doesn't work. as you can see in the first attachment. When setting to 785/1020 for 3D, the 2D jumps up.

So not able to set these accordingly to 2D/3D rules. They don't separate perfectly in their little pools.

Here's two attachments

#1 is the 10.5 Display driver it is the 8.732 version
#2 is the 10.4 OGL4 March29 it is the 8.712 version

 

You get higher 2D clocks?

 

Yeah. When you enable overdrive, you get higher gpu clocks, and 3D memory clocks.
You can lower, step by step for find the limit, only gpu clock and voltage.
Memory stay always full 3d/want_2.
Modify the sliders, apply, close CCC, and modify Want_0 for core voltage and clocks for find your lower limit.
With my card, my minimum it's 200MHz for GPU clock, and 0,95v (950 on want_0) for gpu voltage.

Your info panel show a very mixed drivers.

 

Yep, both are running @400/1200 now=> no flickering

When I overclock with previous drivers ,I get flickering cause=> 157/300 and 400/1200. So no more profiles editing to get no flickering.

If I install 10.5 WHQL, I think I also don't have the flickering issue.

I just showed you in the attachments.

When I uninstalled the Display Driver from 10.5 and installed the Display Driver from OGL4 preview, the problem went away.

Now I have 157/500MHz for 2D and 785/1020MHz for 3D. Without having the 2D running at 400/1000Mhz. and the voltages have gone back to .90v instead of 1.1v

In the 10.5 it's using 'Want_1' for 2D when you set the 3D to whatever.
'Want_0' for Voltage and 'Want_2' for 3D, all screwed up. Not one for one.

 

Hey all - pretty new to the ATI world after long time Nvidia usage. Just curious about this OpenCL. What exactly is this stream needed to have it?

Is there anything that uses OpenCL?

Only references I could find to ATI and OpenCL for my card (5970) is that it is coming in a future driver so was surprised to see mention of it being installable now.

as for the card, I'd get the GTX 480 and as for OpenCL just benchmarking.
