Nah the **** they did in holocaust plus that haunting OST is waaay beyond REC or the very disappointing REC2, but I did enjoy the first one.
I found Quarantine to be far superior tbh. The acting in REC is so bad it ruins the entire film for me. And the fact that it just feels so cheap. Sorry buy REC is just not scary imo. Cannibal Holocaust is just a gorefest, always has been. There is nothing scary about it atall imo.
Dead Space. Look no further. Play it before the sequal comes out. Great game, great feeling, great originality, and it will scare you, I promise.
Didn't scare me. I tried it. Paranormal Activity is the last horror movie I watched, didn't even make me flinch
Any of the first 3 Silent Hill games. Those are seriously dark and twisted. Scary stuff... Although if you just want your heart to pop into your mouth then Doom 3 might be your best bet. Haven't played Penumbra so don't know about that.
There was a level in thief 1, with undead. That level creeped me out. You had to sneak only, your weapons couldnt keep the undead down and the ambient sounds just freaked me out. They should remake that game.
There were several supernatural events in the Thief trilogy. Spoiler Undead, demonic, mechanic - holy water and similar traps, tools and armaments helps though combat was never really viable for most situations due to the players low health and the toughness of and the amount of guards posted.
Even Metal Gear Solid on PSX scared me from time to time But it's offcourse when your concentrated en then detected... that high pitch sound!
+1 Dead Space +1 Penumbra +1 F.E.A.R. (the first one) +1 Undying as for live action stuff, there is this little sleeper hit gem of a mini series that i think is really good. Might not be the scariest thing out there, but then again, i never thought films and such ever were scary. But, close the curtains, turn of the lights, sound up and get a blanket, its good stuff indeed. Rose Red (2002)
Absolutely agree with you on Rose Red. I first watched it when I was something like 13 years old and it scared the hell out of me; of course I watched it alone with the lights off and the sound turned up all the way, hehe. But yeah, it's a surprisingly good horror film, especially since most King film adaptations are not so good.
and just a note, Darkness Within 2 is due to be released May 28th (it's psychological horror like Penumbra) you should try the first as well, but the transition from the first to the sequel is quite big (in terms of gameplay, the first was like a series of picture slides, while the sequel will be like penumbra, first-person controls)
This will be the scariest thing you ever saw... Do you believe in ghosts? Make sure you read the info below before you view the video and turn up the volume if you can. This is a car advertisement from Great Britain. When they finished filming the ad, the film editor noticed something moving along the side of the car, like a ghostly white mist. They found out that a person had been killed a year earlier in that exact same spot. Watch the front end of the car closely as it clears the trees in the middle of the screen and you'll see the white mist crossing in front of the car then following it along the road.... If you listen to the ad, you'll even hear the cameraman whispering in the background about it near the end of the commercial. Ghost Car
