[STEAM] New User Interface Public Beta

Update notes.

EDIT:

 

i opted into the beta...but now steam tries to update and gets stuck exactly 26% in. i have tried a few fixes but nothing has worked. win 7 64bit...any ideas?

 

try delete ClientRegistry.blob in steam directory

 

Make a new shortcut for steam and add -clearbeta at the end of the target line.

Double click, let it download, use as normal. If you wish to use new UI again. Opt-in again.

 

ya i tried those but to no avail. i ended up backing up all of my personal data, games, saves etc from the steam folder and then uninstalling/reinstalling steam. then i put the files back and im up and running again. i thought that i would have to re-dl everything..oh god that would suck.

 

same exact issue except mine is stuck at 27%. wtf.

 

I did this and it still stalls at 27%

 

I just installed the official release and it is UGLY! and I had to edit the steam.styles file to get fonts to work. Not to mention it is so disorganized.

 

Got that when booting TF2 today. False Detection or something Valve isn't telling us?

 

Yes ive had that problem as well... its a vista/win7 security issue where even if you have admin rights you cant install on it.... its stupid really what you do is right click on ur steam folder > properties > uncheck the read only > then apply...

after all of that is done go to security tab add yourself to it and give everyone, your account, and admin account full control and then apply

then one more time delete the clientregistry.blob and you "should" be able to update now have fun

 

mostly likely the scanner using heuristic scanning, mine has been saying killing floor is a keylogger for ages

but nothing to worry about anyway

 

I was in the same boat you are in now when I tried the beta, but after using it for a while I actually like it! Though I still think they should give us the option to use the traditional (I guess it would be called now) steam interface.

 

Finally! It's like they designed the old UI in 2003 or something.

Just updated here (as forgot about the new one), and love it, looks a lot better, very sleek, looks more professional.

 

I just love it. Nice look and most I like is they got rid of that annoying sound which you hear when you receive message. I am glad they replaced it with much more friendly sound .

 

Loving the new interface here. Just hope splinter cell gets added here in the uk. Cannot be botherd going to the shop lol.
