I have also had a situation now with these drivers where my system hung after closing a MKV with MPC-HC. Seemed like something started hogging all the bandwidth before it bit the goat about 30 seconds after.

Come on Nvidia, your drivers beginning to quickly go the way of creative labs.

For me there wasn't much change like the past few drivers, EVR works fine for me again using MPC-HC I don't use it because I mainly watch anime and I see no change in quality from system default option. Like always tests were ran on what I play the games at highest settings with playable fps.

For those with this mkv bug.

Please delete manual nvdecodemft.dll and nvencodemft.dll from windows/wow64 after uninstalling your nvidia driver and also run ccleaner before install new. Also after all cleaning with ccleaner DO a reboot.

Post if you have still this bug after doing this.

This 2 files driversweeper dont delete and even dont know em.

some one at Nvidia ain't testing these as we test them.. MPC had stuttering video on MPGs and AVIs... It even BSOD on me at one point..

Had to go back to 196.34 which seems to work the best for me....

    This machine isn't my flagship... it's a ASUS M3N78 with a 9950 Phenom OCed at 3.1Ghz and a 9800 GTX OC.

i still have the evr bug with these drivers, and your fix doesn't fix it either. I noticed that while the video was stuttering the cpu usage went to 50 %

MPC HC works like s**t!! , They have boldly added a quote saying fixed the mpc hc playback !!!. Still the same stuttering!! Now only with avi and mpeg others working good.

Can you post your mpc hc settings and the codecs used??

Just found the culprit!!! decoding the video with ffdshow video filters is causing the stuttering problems!!! I dont know how t worked with 196.21 drivers and before, but for now disabling the ffdshow video codec solves the stuttering , both 32 and 64 bit version.

anyone having no problems with ffdshow can post their settings here :)

    yeah me too...im kinda pissed..hehe

so i wrote Nvidia in their forums..

maybe someone @ Nvidia reads it and scratches their head^^

its quite a list of Problems i have since the 197 series driver came out..

i think i go back to the quaddro 197.28 WHQL Drivers, EVR is not fixed with these but i can select 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz and 32bit color depth and resize function thats working great there...

someone knows if ATI got such Problems?

    ;)

    ok, tested

in mpc with the internal video decoder, yes, the playback is really bad, but if i use a comercial decoder, like arcsoft (i only buy it, i don't have other to test) the playback is almost perfect, some times if i going to certain position 3 or 4 times then the playback start jerky, but i move and fixes.

But i can play this avi file with kmplayer for example, with not one problem, with evr or evr custom or any renderer.

    [Primary Filtergraph]
    0) - 24.S07E14.HDTV.XviD-LOL.avi
    1) - ArcSoft Video Decoder
    2) - MP3 Decoder DMO
    3) - KMP Video Transform
    4) - Enhanced Video Renderer(C/A)
    5) - Default DirectSound Device.

i think he has a old version of ffdshow maybe. I found the internal codecs of mpc and ffdshow about the same, both works bad for me. But works fine with an external one.

bala_gamer can you post your actual working filters after removing ffdshow?

Maybe its a good idea to start a new thread with this "problem".

hmmm, as i said i tried a lot..
mostly i use Xvid Codec..it worked great before..
Now it does not..internal also. ffdshow i dont use, cyberlink codec for avi/xvid didnt work also..and arcsoft..i have it installed but i cant find the codec, and when i play with arcsoft hometheater it works but its not custom EVR or EVR at all..i see the difference, also the enhancers are not working.

i also tried KMP player..custom EVR = Fail for me...

if ATI does not have this issue i go for an ati...grml...

    greetz^^

some had such problems, some don't. i never had, infact in 3-4 years of using ATI cards and drivers, i only had problems with 1 set of drivers, all the other sets has always worked 100% in games and playing videos EVR or Overlay had no stutter.

i've always been lucky with ATI cards for some reason, they just work for me, while with nvidia things seem to vary a lot between drivers releases, for instance most people get a performance increase with 197.xx while i lost 5fps in every single game (i did a fresh windows format which was exactly the same), all previous sets (186,190,191,195,196) were good, my 2nd pc features has a GTX260 installed, i still use the 186.18 because its the perfect set for me, not a single bug and epic performance, flawless.

the 19x.xx are good performance wise but they all suffer from at least 1 or 2 bugs let alone the FO3 and Oblivion hitch.

curiously the 197 for quadro fixed the FO3 hitch for me, performance was great too (no 5fps loss) but had massive shadows bug in all games.

juampiiUsing only internal decoders in mpc hc (1788 latest version) and it is playing good with both evr sync and custom pres.

nope still issues...i tried divx again..same....i tried microsoft decoder, bad idea..video streched out over all displays and still issues..

i tried again without AVI splitter, still the same.
and that cyberlink timestrech is not on, its just shown in there^^

back on xvid codec..works better, but still in acceptable..

BetA13 Can you provide a link for the video file you used, or some other files that we can test in common?
