It's the gigabyte 5870 2gb eyefinity 6 edition. I'm going to use it for the gigabyte overclocking challenge on hwbot. All they said was that you have to use all gigabyte hardware. I have the board and now the card as well. The thing is, They just said you have to use a 5870.. They did'nt say what kind
:arnie: The 2gb card has a performance gain in vantage so it should be interesting once I overclock the hell out of it. I'm ready for the gtx 480's though.. bring em on! eta is tomorrow and friday..

i have not paid attention to gta 480 availability but i am sure they are pretty difficult to obtain even if u are willing to pay for them how did u manage to get them?

I didn't know gigabyte had the 2GB 5870 version i tot only sapphire had them with the toxic version.

So much has been done with the drivers since this thread was started, can anyone tell me whether Trifire works with Eyefinity at this stage, either with 5970+5850 or with 3x5870?

*With Eyefinity* is the particular qualifier for me. Right now I'm working with a 5292x1050 resolution and my CF 5870's are holding up very well with Battlefield:BC2.

BFBC2 doesn't like tri fire at the moment, hopefully drivers will fix it in the very near future. Crossfire works well though, but i don't have the video muscle to enable AA at 5760x1200, and have to keep HBAO turned off

Trifire sucks in EF, everything locked at 20fps. Same with quadfire.

I'm also very dissapointed with the performance of crossfire in eyefinity because although you get an fps boost, gaming is not as smooth as it is in single monitor. Some say that this is due to lack of bandwidth of the cf bridges which were designed to work max at 2560x1600 res.... Go figure.

The best solution for my taste is a single 30" monitor...

Ok so ef doesn't work well on more than 2 gpu cores note to self not to do it when xfiring the 5970. I guess in the end something has to be sarcificed. You xfire more than 2 gpus you just use it on a single monitor for higher performance. You want eye finity just use 2 of them

Yeah, the lightnings look great. Good job - how do they fair vs. normal 5870's?

It will require a significant CPU overclock to get my out of that setup.
