gtx260 sli power question

What would be the minimum recommended PSU for 2 x gtx 260 core 216 in sli -? expecting to be able to pick up another gtx260 second hand quite cheap when fermi arrives. Would my Seasonic 600w psu be enough i wonder.. ?

I would say 750W just to be safe.You might want some headroom to OC that CPU .
600W would be a little bit tight for you have a lot of HDDs etc.

I have had a system with i7 860 OC-ed to 4.2Ghz and GTX260 sp216 OC-ed in SLI.
the power consumption when running 3DMark Vantage is maxing out 600W at the
wall outlet (system only).

Overclocked as well. Real example, not a calculation. Gotta make you wonder about all the different opinions. They can't all be right.

Your PSU has 2x12v, 18A rails. GTX260 216's need 15A each minimum. Them plus your other bits would push it well over. Upgrade time methinks .

 

well i was runing my two gtx260 with my psu (3 riels of 18 amp each, and 42 amp total ) for 6 months, then the bsods apears.. 750w / 54amp total is all what you need (the cheap way)

i personally recomend you the ante true power quattro 850w modular.. great psu..


ps. i solved my problem by selling my cards and buying a single gtx285ocx XD

 

Ok, and then multiply that with the rated efficency and he is well below 600W.
He will be fine.

 

Hi I have an ETASIS 750 PSU, Im told it is a server PSU.
I currently have it running a Palit GTX 260,and a Gigabyte SOC GTX 260. it is running then fine. I also have an AMD 940 BE O\C'd to 3.5 and its holding this up just fine. 750 is ok for running GTX 260 but get a good brand. Antec would be my first choice if i wasnt able to get this Etasis 750 from newegg in a special sale

 

Well a bit agree.....also I think its a matter of how much you stress (load) you put onto your hardware once you start gaming

 

but also to tell the truth if its a very good PSU from a very good manufacturer such as OCZ / PC Power & Cooling / Corsair / thermaltake especially the first 3 of them......you can stay assure that you can't go wrong

 

Think a Corsair tx750w (model # CMPSU-750TX) would work? Thinking about getting a 2nd 260, price seems to be right.....specs are in profile.

Nice. Best Buy has the BFG GTX 260 OCX Coremax (their version of 216 core, has 216 stream processors) for 150 on clearance, as opposed to the PNY version which is 229.99. Time to get out my ol' 780i ultra!
