id still go for vapor-x since it eats less power then 470 costs bit less and performs better. With it being oc'd version its closer to 480 then 470 for sure.

    Reasons to go with GTX480-470
    1. Drivers, current reviews are still on beta drivers. Nvidia is known to offer more performance via driver updates.

    2. It is faster than the 5870 and in SOME cases it competes with the 5970. I think OCed cards from vendors will be interesting to see performance..

    3. Board vendors. I can say that eVGA, BFG have great customer service and lifetime warranties. Unless you go XFX with ATi your gonna get a limited warranty.

    Reasons to go with 5870
    1. Cost it will end up being $100 cheaper as of now, even though stock is limited.

    2. Hey its out now...

    3. The 10.3 catalyst drivers are solid, I still think there is room for improvement.

    4. Runs cooler.

    I've also defected :D

Had nothing but nV for years and I've been waiting for the results on the GF100. I wasn't impressed, so I ordered two 5850's at 3am on Saturday. I was gonna get two 5870's but someone pointed out that clock for clock the 5850 is only about 3% slower than the 5870 and OC just about as well. Two 5850's for the price of one 480.... no brainer.

Get the GTX470, just go with BFG or EVGA, they have never let me down.

It's not even in the question. The Gtx 470 performs worse than the 5870. And at around the same price. At least here in Romania.

Actually i would have waited for next gen ATI cards which will be out soon,so that you would have more choices, and you might have saved some $$$.Any way for price you mentioned 5870 is not bad for now,but 470 is slightly better with tessellation and has high min fps range.

    Good luck
    Clifford

EDIT:I almost forgot your Psu suits fine for 5870,and it might have struggled with 470 or 480.

Me too. I had nothing but nVidia for 7 years now and i just ordered a 5850. I really wanted to get the GTX470 but i also live in Romania and the price as you said is 415 euros and the 5850 is at 260E...so i'm joining the red team as well.

I'm going to overclock the hell out of the 5850 and probably get more fps than GTX470 and it will still run cooler, draw less power and make less noise and i will also save 160 euros. So for now it's bye bye nVidia!

5870, its not much slower, and doesn't use more power than the hadron collider :p

i don't know how everybody thinks the prices they have now here will be the same after two weeks when they actually come in stock and you can actually buy them. If the retailers see nobody is buying them they will lower closer to msrp. Just that there is no way of knowing how much it will be:)

We've already waited so long for the 470/480...

The 5870 is cheaper, faster and cooler than the 470 :3eyes: Unless you value Physx that much, it's pretty clear which to buy.

If it helps I wanted the GTX 480 originally but the price and temperatures have put off it. Instead I ordered a Sapphire HD5870 Vapour X and it is being delivered tomorrow. I'd rather have had the NVIDIA card in all honesty but it's just too hot and expensive and simply not very good value IMHO.
