Yeah, that just goes to show their lack of foresight. Hopefully something will come out of it, but, I doubt it because either way "someone" is going to have to check the stuff works on both sides and this was Nvidia's argument for not supporting physx on Ati. Will Ati do the same to Nvidia? Time will tell and we'll see opencl for what it is.

I'm also looking forward to Rage and Doom4, both opengl games. It's likely id are getting as much 3.3 stuff done as possible and looking forward to fully supporting opengl4.0 before the release of Rage sometime this year. This bandwagon needs no introduction as theirs only 1 viable option and that's Nvidia.

    GTX470 apparently.

You mean you hope they don't abandon it before finishing it, less likely this time since they don't have to work with Intel, but you never know.

Physx invented add-in card physics. That company cost Nvidia a lot of money, it wasn't free. Too many people forget that Nvidia made a big investment into this. People moan that there's not many games that use it, but, they can't say it's better without physx cause most of the time physx is worthwhile. Plus, it works on all platforms. Just not on Ati gpu's.

It's years of work that cannot be done in 1 or 2 yrs. By the time they catch-up imagine how far physx would have come. There's just no comparison. We have a working solution already, it's called Physx.

Haha thats crazy, good to see they don't melt in a smoking magma lake like Charlie claimed even with that close together.

2x 480s with decent spacing between them should be just ok.

I'm torn on the GTX 480. Mainly because of it losing some cores from the 512 it was supposed to have, then claims that a full 512 card will be put out later.

I'd honestly wait for that 512 core card then. Get what it's supposed to be.

But eh, people will buy the 480 core card anyway.

Well they upped clocks little, availability is no doubt improving a lot and TDP went down 50w even after the clock boost so... Good call NV.

Memorian are you hinting at inside knowledge (you're 3D knowledge suggests otherwise...)? If you're waiting like everyone else than stop "Biggin it up" or acting like a shill ok?

TBH I think I'm going to see some really good potential hardware that will be better once 28nm hits (ie second gen). I definitely don't think I'm gonna feel the urge to upgrade though...

Of course you don't need to upgrade, you got 2*5850 in crossfire which is faster than the GTX480

Memorian, if you're hinting that GTX480 is slower than 5870 at 8xaa, then, you maybe right. All indications is that at 4xaa GTX480 beats 5870. This is kind of what I gathered from the leaks. Care to confirm?

I said something is wrong with Nvidia drivers (In Crysis And Crysis Warhead)
When 8xMSAA is enabled the difference is bigger

Edit:You got it the wrong way,i didn't want to say that GTX480 will be slower than 5870 in 8xMSAA,just the opossite :)
