I was hoping they would test GTA IV on this processor. On my quad it uses all 4 cores almost maxed out. Would be interesting..

    Wow

    4ghz on 6 cores?

Maybe AMD can deliver similar clocks on its new 6 core. It'd be awesome to see a 3ghz stock 6 core AMD chip at under $300 this christmas.

    Great review.

Let's hope the gaming industry will start to pick up the pace and keep up with this sort of technology advancement.

"Multi-core processors are the future"... I've been hearing that phrase for years by now. I wonder when will the future come finally?

The price is absolutely nonsensical considering that the future is not here yet. It is the same "Intel history" as always. When the ominous Netburst arquitecture was released and failed by a vast margin at that time, they said it was designed for "future" applications. Now, Gulftown performs very well in comparison to the old first P4 (in spite of that moronic 1066 DDR3 mode limitation) but with that price tag most consumers can't just buy it. Absurd all round, except for enthusiast rich people! And no quad core at 32nm so far. That will leave the consumer with the crappy dual core or this absurdly expensive sixcore!

The same Intel's monopolic policy. We seriously need a strong response on AMD's part or people will never make it to 6 cores. Anyway, who needs 6 cores really? From a viewpoint based on performance/price I still have to stick to Core i7 920/940, which is stupid because these CPU's are relatively old. This is the sad result of monopoly.

Of course, great review as always.

    Wow, awesome chip.

...but if anyone buys one of these things for gaming they are quite retarded. Fortunately for Intel there are a lot of retarded people in the world.

check you lot, my cpu is probably the lowest spec on this site lol

that's why im waiting for 6core AMD, because even though its clear "almost" no game see`s a benefit from this extra 2 core`s it will still be miles faster than my crappy intel and cheaper than an expensive quad intel

Yes, true. For that price I can pay a good dedicated server in my country for one entire year! Besides, in many countries like mine that price will increase (x2 in my case). Well, to pay 2 grands for that performance is just absurd, isn't it?

Yeah, that CPU pretty much stomped my former Q6600, and that was at 3.63GHZ! Everyone best be saving up their pocket money.
