Introdution to new nVidia Optix - see http://developer.nvidia.com/object/optix-examples.html (your geforce 8 series (but I don't test yet) or better may work ;) but recommended -> gtx260 or better or optimized -> new geforce Fermi (GF100 but not release yet until march))
I have samples optix and my 9800gt is fully tested :D but I got (very) slow because the ray-tracing is toooo heavy. :D sorry ;) but you need register nvidia for access download -> http://developer.nvidia.com/object/optix-beta-survey.html

I will buy 2x gf100 SLi but only in my anniversary!! :D :p

I tried running one of the examples (JulianSet) and was told I didn't have compatible hardware... it seemed to want a Quadro card, not my 295GTX's :( Upon further reading of the developer forum, it seems that the 196.21 WHQL driver has a problem with Optix and the 196.34 beta should contain a fix.

Optix engine is ray-tracing by via CUDA. Ray-tracing is shadows, reflections (as mirrors, glasses...)... universals.
    I Iike toooo it!! :D

I installed that Beta Software but can't launch any of these demos. Always tells me that I need a quadro card. What am I supposed to do?

no!! you do download "Beta 1 of OptiX 2" (geforce 8 or better, quadro or tesla)

no! your gpu can work but only nvidia card because any ati radeon (hd2xxx or better) doesn't work CUDA!!!

it's normal you can't run because your radeon isn't supported by CUDA. you can buy geforce card. ;)
I tested w/ fully functional all samples. I got between 15 and 30 fps (windowed w/ size default) on sample "Manta Scene". :)

I installed "Beta 1 of OptiX 2" and tried to launch some of the sample apps in there. but always gives me an error. Got a Palit GeForce 260GTX 216. Should do the trick, shouldn't it?

EDIT: It's a CUDA related runtime error

    I have xp-sp3 w/ 195.62. :)
