Battlefield - Bad Company 2

Steam has to update or you can't play the game. It's just the way it's setup. You can't manually update the game, at least not to my knowlodge.

 

SecuRom is nothing. It's just a wrapper around the exe. It doesn't install nothing. I doubt that is going to cause anything. I believe it will be fine.

 

Oh so your talking about just a digital download place. I got all my buddies on steam so I can see what games their playing and join in, so I guess if you only play by yourself, I can see why you would hate Steam. So to me, Steam is more of a convenience.

 

Can anyone that ordered off of play.com download the beta client VIA the link givien in the e-mail?

 

You can choose if you want the game to stay up-to-date or not by right clicking the game and go into properties. Choose to set it manual if you don't like auto update.

 

I didn't say I hate Steam. I play with tons of people. Even they have choose not to use Steam. We've all played without Steam for years. Never needed it untill MW2, although I did have Steam installed for AA3 and L4D but L4D was a gift. Don't need it for BFBC2. We all use TeamSpeak to talk so I don't need to see where everyone is at when I can simply talk to them.

 

To my knowlodge Steam has to stay up-to-date if you want to play, especially online. If you disable auto updating I don't believe you can play the game or when a new patch comes out you have to turn back on auto update to continue playing. I believe this is how it is setup not 100% sure.

You can manually update many games, and you can choose if you want auto updates or not.

 

Depends on the game. For example, you can manually patch Hearts of Iron 3.
