Source games can be played, it just slows things down abit. I was playing Left4Dead2 demo with it on, and had no problems, might turn it off if i was getting mauled all the time though. Only COD game i've played has been COD4, and that was unlocked and was hitting near 200fps at the start when i played through the beginning again the other day. Dead Space didn't have a lock to 30fps unless you enabled ingame VSync, which i never use anyway, the COD games always use 60fps on consoles anyway, so it def wouldn't be 30.
i woudnt say it was as hyped as crysis. they linked a nvidia 8800 to that game at the time. and ofcourse we all know how that went
Vsync ON in COD games was locked to your refresh rate and then with it off the fps was locked at 91fps (even though com_maxfps was set to 85?). I personally set mine to 125fps in the console window.
dont you feel like you have mouselagg when playing l4d2 with it ? i think you really should try. you would be surprised there are lots of games with fps locks. pes2010 ,fifa probably too, dead space, wolfenstein, borderlands, there are lots more, but forgot which ones. good thing you can work around it thats why i love d3doverrider. it fixes allot of problems for me. fixed the 30fps and 59hz problem pretty weird you got 200fps, it should be locked to 85. Quote"(One of the most important commands in cod4 is the FPS command, and Ill tell you why. You probably already know that more fps makes the game feel much smoother. What you might not know is that COD4 is based on the q3 engine and is designed to work at 125 FPS.What this means for you is that your going to have problems interacting with the game under 125 FPS. This can mean any thing from not being able to climb objects, or even bad hit detection during fire fights. The problem is your fps is set to 85 by default, lets fix it. Bring down you console and type com_maxfps 125. If you want to remove the limit, type com_maxfps 0 " http://www.serpento.net/index.php?o...nsole-commands&catid=36:videogames&Itemid=109 Im reinstalling the game now as we speak, perhaps one of the patches fixed the fps. i dunno, its been a while since i played it. CPC_RedDawn, and those guys from the site are right, its locked at 85fps, showing 90/91 on the screen.
no , in every game with vsync is locked to the refresh rate. thats how it supposed to work. to remove the tearing. yes it was set to 85 in the game so you were right. Thats what i loved about those games. the console commands to make the game run way better. or have nicer graphics that also works with other games, like fallout 3 or crysis
Yeah, it does, but its ok enough for me to live with, and tearing drives me insane, so i only very turn it off if im getting hyper competitive. Just had a quick check there with the settings turned away down.
Not in the UK, the PC one is on average £10 cheaper, coming in at £35 while the console ones are £45.
Something else for original poster to consider. And this thread is about XBox vs PC If you buy the Xbox version You buy the game You play the game You're now done with the game You can now sell it to any number of outlets that buy used games You can loan it your friends so they can play it You could even give it to them if you were so inclined If you buy the PC version You buy the game You play the game You're now done with the game What can you do with it now? Nothing. You can do none of the things that you can do with the XBox version. PC game is STEAM activated It is forever tied to your STEAM account It's your $60.00
How much are Steam charging for this in Canada then? As its less than the RRP, and i find it hard to believe that North American PC gamers are proportionately charged more. IAmGhostDog, while you make alot of good points, they could all be applied to every PC game. I just feel that im sure if deltatux looks around, he could get the PC one cheaper. And it comes dowbn to game on a High Res on a monitor for the PC one, or game on a small SD CRT for the 360 one. For me thats a no brainer.
I vote neater. Lets face the truth here, this game will be dead in less than a year if it even gets off the ground to begin with, Go Xbox if you want it to last "a little longer" or PC if you like the ability to adjust things, and better control. With no mod ability, no dedicated servers, which means no control over servers. kicking people when their hacking, or just being an ass is impossible, this will cause servers will fill quickly with riffraff. Then there's the problem with no console commands on top of that!?, I think they shot them self's in the foot with this one. Too bad really, I liked the CoD4 and WaW games.
i would avoid this like the plague or at least until they at least show some effort in patches, buying this and basicly one is contributing to the s***iness of activision and their disgusting marketing strategys and Infinity wards general attitute to the platform. what a way to treat a platform which they started on. EDIT: I would AVOID until they at least fix it, seems the console version is getting pirated more than the PC which contradicts what they are saying about PC piracy.
They wont fix this unless this sells a good few million copies, and legitimate customer mass complain. Wont be worth their while if it doesn't sell well. 360 piracy doesn't matter though, as sales are still highest on that.
Good points, however I don't know, I wasn't even thinking of selling my copy of CoD regardless, but who knows. I would rather play on an SD monitor if it meant that I get a decent amount of players per match and not deserted. As for the prices, on Steam, we pay in American Dollars (that's another reason I don't directly from Steam, bandwidth cap and conversion required). Thanks for the votes guys, keep 'em coming, everyone's making very good arguments. I understand the business side of things, but IW's MPs have always been fun dedicated server or not. My only concern is the amount of players who would be on the PC version if I keep the PC preorder. Cheers & thanks, deltatux
The devs care about how many copies they sell, not about how many they don't. And they know they will sell around 15-20 million copies on the consoles and now honestly, about 2-3 million on the PC (being a bit generous). That's why they don't give a toss about PC anymore (and I don't even blame them). If people like you are obviously too blind to see clear facts, well whatever. Seems like you don't have a clue. Sorry mate.
A bit of a bold statement really, over here in the UK the game will sell around 10 quid cheaper than the console versions. still doesn't mean you were right. you can lend it to your friend. and you can even sell it although the buyer won't be able to play mp most likely.
