In playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Prypiat with NV 191.00, 191.07 or 191.56 randomly blackening monitor and game not responding. With driver 190.62 or antoher previous driver is all right. My advice - NV 191.xx is not good for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - back do 190.62 :bang: My comp c1: -------------------------------------- PSU Corsair HX620 CPU C2D E8600@4Ghz+Scythe SCNJ-1100P MB Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4 RAM 8GB Geil DDR2 Black Dragon GPU Gainward GTX285@695/1583/2600+Accelero S1 Audio SB Xtreme Gamer HDD WD Caviar Black 500GB (OS) +Samsung SpinPoint 640GB (data) LCD LG L226WTQ-PF OS Se7en 64bit
My "soft"overclocking VGA is not problem, other drivers (190.62, 186.xx) and other games is very stable. Problem is driver 191.xx :biggun:
It's funny how the 191.xx drivers seem to work for some and not others... maybe they are just bad for the GTX285?
The 191.XX drivers have been working great for me. In fact, they are the first driver set for Win 7 that feel like I'm getting the same performance as I did in XP. Your best bet is to find a driver line that likes your hardware and stick with it for a while.
FTFY Nvidia drivers are fine. At least we have tons of options in drivers to find a set that works well. Just because there are lots of options for beta drivers doesn't mean nvidia sucks when they don't work on some systems.
Not the 190-191's , worst drivers i've ever come across and believe me i've tried **** loads!. So Jcazz is correct
Well, for Single Vid card setups,, X more drivers will work than say 3-way SLI....Especially 3way SLI on 9800GTX and X58 Chipset....i had less problems with the 780I and earlier drivers than i did with this newer setup...when it runs though ive gained a good amount of speed...but Crysis is a miracle if it does run with 3GPUS on Alt Rendering 3-gpu mode.....and 190X drivers can suck my left nut. 191.07 are an improvment, but SLI will Break itself after a reboot....eveytime and work fine after first Re-boot and install....im Tired of this crap so, i decided to buy 2 5870;s hoping for a great deal of improvment.
and how many video games do you play? some of us play a lot of different games, and some drivers definitely favor certain games and others are unafected. i can get same fps in batman with any nvidia driver in the past 1 and a half year. but fallout 3 doesnt work with any 190 and newer. not to mention different hardware and operating systems
I play several fps games, also benchmark, and have not had a driver problem in xp32 or win764. Stalker is good to go on my 190.07's. No sli issues or heavy oc issues. Just lucky I guess.
Drivers have always been this way, some games and some cards run great on some versions ........ this has been like this for as long as I can remember
Many, currently installed; STALKER CS STALKER Call of Pripyat (can't wait to buy the English version!) Crysis & Crysis Warhead Call Of Juarez - Bound In Blood Farcry 2 Fallout 3 (with some nice mods) COD4 & COD W@W BF2 & BF2142 Age of Conan (30GB...) LOTRO AION Terminator (where's the damn physx patch already!?!) Left 4 Dead Killing Floor Plus the common Steam games, HL2, CSS, TF2 etc (and that's not including any benchmarks). I like to test each driver to ensure it has no weird quirks, with both DX9 and DX10 games.
Im love STALKER series and have a GTX285 with 191.07 driver. My 24'' monitor 1920x1200 blinks sometimes (59hz / Windows 7 issue), but my 50'' TV 1920x1080 is working perfect, with no bugs (just graphics glitches, but the engine is not perfect) and Im playing Call of Pripyat for 10-12 hours with no crash or something strange. Viva Call of Pripyat ! Please co-op game in next release ! Update : Finished the game. No crashes or bugs for Call of Pripyat.
hardcore Stalker player here... all 3 games (properly patched) are working better with the 191 series... 191.56 seems to be the best for me (awkward since they were intended for quadro's) Windows 7 x64
