    so my setup:
    amd athlon x2 6000+ @ 3,2 ghz
    palit gtx 260 896mb
    2gb ddr2 ram.
    asus m2n mobo.

so i play cod4 like fulltime XD
anyways.. i cant hit the 250 fps steady!
    i play at 1152 x 864

i tried playing lower res but still no fps increase. higher resolution neither..
i know the cpu in combination with the gpu gives a huge bottleneck.. but still. it should make it to 250 fps, other players with the same cpu have 250 steady so why cant i get it..
my fps sways around the 90 and the 250.. its like.. mostly 200,180,230 and sometimes it drops till 130,90!
i updated drivers and stuff, no result..
    some help plox??

    :D

erm 250fps? what is the big deal reaching 250fps?

if the game is running over 100fps what on earth are u worried about?

(are u the general's brother by any chance? :wanker:)

250 fps in COD4 with 6000+...hmmmm you're expecting too much.

In multiplayer, especially pro mod ... 250 + gives a huge advantage. There are alot of "jumps" that are impossible with anything below 250 ...
And yeah, as already mentioned , you can't get constant 250 ( or more ) with that CPU ... Was impossible for me too, until I bought q9550 ...

point one. i'm not the general's brother (whose tha)
point two. 250 fps is a must have in promod these days (faster shooting, jumping, smoother play, and less recoil)
point three: on other forums (like tek9) there are lots of ppl who have 250 steady with the same cpu as me..
    :O

ok dont worry about the general was bad joke. and right didnt realise this promod thing u need 250fps. seems strange that u would need that much to run the game smoothly. but perhaps am wrong.

if u are getting on-screen lag its not necessarily because u arent reaching this 250fps could be other factors as well..

gpu overheating/drivers (try different ones but use a program like driver sweeper). internet connection. am guessing its online so a stable connection helps...

Factors like the fact that you only have 2GB of RAM?
You could try making that 3 or 4GB and see if the game's memory requirements are what is slowing you down some. I know it on my system to eat up 1GB of RAM on its own quite easily. On its own being if i am using 2GB before I start it, I'll be using 3GB or more if I minimize it and check task manager

At that resolution, the bottleneck is firmly with your CPU, the GPU is barely getting used - even my Q6600 bottlenecks a GTX 260 in some games.

This seems to explain the whole 250fps thing though Clicky

Best way to get your 250fps is to upgrade your CPU to an i7 and clock the living hell out of it, because at that resolution your CPU speed counts. The Athlon X2 is quite an old CPU now

That is what you me (with a different setup) get. I actually lol'd seeing him asking for 250fps constant in COD4 with that cpu:nerd:

To be honest I don’t think that you will notice any difference if you play at 60fps or 250fps. But I will set the fps cap from 91 to 250 and I will see if this myth is correct (faster shooting, jumping, smoother play, and less recoil).

    6000 x2, 2gig ram, cod4 @ 1152X864 and 250fps? HAHAHAHAHAHA

and less recoil is cheating already .. promod? more like easymod lol

    promod is awful.

People who play competitively should be able to cope with the game as it stands if they are so good?

and the 125fps jump thing is a glitch, a lot of servers kick you for trying to exploit it.

The sad part, is LCD moniter's can't display more then 60FPS (sometime 75FPS). So anything above the refresh rate is called "Placebo effect".

There is a bug in the engine that lets you jump slightly higher if you are getting exactly 125 frames. I don't see why people want 250 though, sounds like promod wasn't developed properly if people with 250 fps have lower recoil...
