Dual Core with GTX 285 1024MB

    Nvidia GeForce GTX 260
    i have a AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 2.90GHz
    with a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1024MB.

    looking to put in a GeForce GTX 285 1024MB in there
    with the wife unable to know because she is a woman
    i can do this without her knowing,and get away with it.

    Question is will the Dual Core bottleneck any performance gains
    i would otherwise see with a more powerfull PC?

    You have AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.9GHz (Brisbane)? If yes it will bottleneck..

    same here:bang: I get 16fps in FC2 maxed out @ 1280X1024..imagine..

    My Q6600 bottlenecks my GTX 275 in most games - I can run Crysis Warhead at 1680x1050, maximum settings and I get no change in framerates between 0xAA and 16xQ, plus I get lower frame rates in all games than i7 users claim to get with the same GPU.

    massive bottleneck there dude. I came from an Opteron 170 sk939 overclocked to 2.8ghz

    the amount of bottleneck would be so bad... just keep saving to get a new comp

    It would bottleneck, the best you can do is go for something like a 720, or a 940 phenom, or overclock the hell out of it.

    dude you got problems.. i know the cpu limit the performance but 16 fps ? i got about 30/37fps with mine..

    Look at your clock rate, versus a stock 5800. Plus you have more cache too.

    My 260 is at stock. If I remember 6000+ has 2MB L2 cache opposed to 1MB in mine...At times I do get 30..
