Thanks for the heads up, I see a gain of 5-8 fps average gain in Far Cry 2 DX10 after installing it.

I'm surprised it doesn't show this through the directX web update. dxwebsetup.exe, a little file I got a billion years ago and that's what I always used to update directX since it seemed to be always missing non-mandatory files even when updated through windows update. Though that was a long time ago, I'm not sure if windows update adds all files now.

Installed with no issues but it shows as DX10 as others have already stated. I tried out Windows 7 again (you can always try 30 days for free and even that can be reset 3 times resulting in 120 days) and I had a ton of video issues which I know only the basics about so I switched back to Vista. If DX11 will be only a Windows 7 thing I'm going to have to eventually learn about video codecs. :/

arrrrggghhh POS broadband, attempt number 3 to download these( 20 mins downloading so far that it stops downloading with a few seconds to go ).

Ill try again, otherwise anyone know and download servers for this that support pause/continue?

If you're having such severe issues you may want to consider one of those download helper programs which can pause/resume downloads, etc. I haven't used one in an eternity so I don't know which one to recommend.

cheers mate, i got it downloaded finally, grr, crappy broadband sux.

Actually i normally use Flashgot but if the server doesnt support the retries then the download software doesnt either which kinda sux.

i think that file is for software developers though. it is "Redist" not "Enduser Runtime" like the previous ones

It does the same thing. Only difference between the two is the web installer only downloads the files that need to be updated, and the redist. contains all the DX files but will only update/install the ones that are needed (best to use the redist. on a fresh Windows install). From watching how many files got updated from this one, I can see why the redist. came out before the web install (if it comes out).

installed, works fine, games run great, i noticed a little less hitching in one game that was hitching a lot (Delta Force), usually i don't notice a thing with DX updates but there's something about this new update.

    so far so good.

Just installed this on xp:p I know it doesn't support dx11 but imo it's just always best to have the latest dx installed. You never know what it might fix.
