This script is for win7 32 bit I use it with mobile catalyst beta 9.8, I think it should work for catalyst 9.8 - driver version 8.640. This driver seems to support opengl 3.1 :).

    hardware: core2duo 2.2Ghz, 3gb ram, mobility 2600 (m76), win 7 32 bit

specview maya-02 was ~94 aero off, ~84 aero on.

specapc 2009: could not complete 3 runs, squid.ma scene crashes on 2nd or 3rd run. With mayaTest(1,1), the gfx result is 0.98 (aero off). No artifacts in hand scene this time.

    bike.ma:
    smooth shaded: (9.4 - 11)fps
    wireframe: (34 - 36)fps
    smooth shaded hq: (2.3 - 2.7)fps

The strange thing is that the selection box and the frame slider does not get displayed with classic windows skin. With aero _on_ though, no problems so far..

Is there a script that has been tested with vista 64 yet? I've got a 4870 and running 3ds max 2009... would really like to try and take a stab at high end drivers. Would someone point me to the simplest and most up-to date set of instructions for doing this... don't feel like reading 15 pages of info to try and glean all of the steps necessary.

this is my first soft-mod attempt.

I have similar results like you do with wesleys latest drivers, BUT in Maya there is NO!!! speed increase. Its only in the SPECViewPerf the case of good results...

    :bang:

    So... lets wait...

Hi there, first of all: i spend many days in the past weeks in this forum reading all the softmod patchscript threads.
I did several test with different FireGL Drivers in combination with my ATI x1950 Pro. Some softmods worked
pretty good but all the "working" FireGL drivers still had the "selection" bug in Maya and Softimage XSI.

I can't use the latest patchscript for 8.633 because the support for x1950pro / v7350 cards ended
up with FireGL Driver 8.583. So this is why i need a script for FireGL Driver 8.5xx, cause all the 8.4xx
drivers had the selection bug, so i really cant use them in softimage & maya.

Here is a list of all drivers i modded using gellmars patchscript(s) and the results:

    FireGL 8.293 [SoftMOD_WORKING] [Maya/XSI Selection BUG]
    FireGL 8.440 [SoftMOD_WORKING] [Maya/XSI Selection BUG]
    FireGL 8.453 [SoftMOD_WORKING] [Maya/XSI Selection BUG]
    FireGL 8.502 [BLUESCREEN] [NOT.WORKING]
    FireGL 8.523 [SoftMOD_FAILURE] [Maya/XSI WORKING FINE]
    FirePro 8.543 [SoftMOD_FAILURE] [Maya/XSI WORKING FINE]
    FirePro 8.563 [SoftMOD_FAILURE] [Maya/XSI WORKING FINE]
    FirePro 8.583 [SoftMOD_FAILURE] [Maya/XSI WORKING FINE]
    FirePro 8.603 [x1950 / v7350 NOT SUPPORTED]

    as u can see:
The 8.5xx Drivers fixed the Selection BUG in Maya/XSI, but i wasnt able to activate the softmod.
With 8.4xx Drivers the Softmod was working fine (SpecViewPerf10) but they had the "selection bug".
So i hope u understand my request for a working patchscript for FireGL 8.5xx Drivers.

Thanks for your replies ! (And sorry for the extra topic, but i wasnt able to post here before)

Don't what to be rude or in off topic with you guys but we have another successfully Quadro mod http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=264654&page=6 hope some one consider it and start to make patch script for the newer driver and make rivatuner for G92 and GT200 because the geforce are still moddable and bug free. :)

Are there still people buying NVidia cards ?

    Seriously though, congrats guys.
But I'll never go back to NVidia (unless AMD/ATI goes out of business).
I'll never forget how XFX and NVidia let us rot in hell when Vista was introduced.

And i'll never forget selection bug, selection lag & others :puke2: at least nvidia works and the mod works too. Those cards are stable and perform very well at least my old 8800GTS 320 G80 kills a HD4870 at 800\4400 + firepro drivers +Q6600 @3 GHz and you are telling me that nvidia is corrupt :). I'm not an ATi or nvidia fan, I'm a maya fan and i want to get my work done fast an stable;). So i just want to show you guys that nvidia cards are still modable, to draw attention that ATi is not our only hope;)

How about you guys bring the fanboy wars to another thread and leave this one clean for those of us waiting for 4870 mods for 64bit windows.

    EDIT:
    What war?
How about taking your misinterpretations to another forum ?
A couple of suggestions, these guys also see war everywhere :

    http://www.defencetalk.com/forums/
    http://forums.military.com/

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

XFX and NVidia, for over one year after Vista was introduced, did nothing about instability, artifacts, freeze ups, etc. And this was all at the 2D desktop, the first hell. The second hell, was only available to PC gamers. I'm glad that I was not also a PC gamer.
The XFX forums over at Bjorn3D was full of lies, stealing, conniving and cover ups by XFX staff. And they would sneakily remove posts with documented proof, and if it was reposted they would ban the reposter.
Even a post containing a link to your own hosted website with documented proof resulted in bans.
And XFX for instance had a badge/logo on the box of a 7950 that the hardware was Vista Certified, when one of the members of the forum investigated at Microsoft it turned out that the hardware was still pending approval, because XFX and NVidia had changed the specs shortly during testing. XFX had doubled RAM memory and changed memory and clock speeds, and at the same time NVidia had changed something in the supporting circuitry.
The guy was a MS certified driver developer, and he got treated by XFX staff as a criminal without education.

    But I'm getting off topic.
I wish you guys luck, at the moment you guys seem to be ahead.
At some point in the near future you will be taken over and sprayed all over with red paint. :p

Look at the screenshot above with the Maya bike scene. It has 13.5 FPS. Either FireGL softmod doesn't work yet or the FirePro cards are slow in Maya. Specview shows all the improvements but Maya doesn't whatsoever. I don't know if this is a problem with the softmod or with the firegl cards in general.
I found the results that Maryus3D posted:

It shows a real FirePro card is slow in Maya.

Just to give you an idea my 8600GT (a rly slow and old card) does 60 FPS on the same scene and my 8800GT, 70 FPS when they are quadro softmodded. You guys should rly consider these cards.
Please don't post any flamewar comments as I am not interested in them one bit.

Well we dont have to discuss about "ati or nvidia", cause this here is the ATI FireGL section.
Believe me, i dont like ATI and i used NVIDIA for the last 8 or 10 years, since the first Geforce 256.
I only have ATI in my system, because my 7950GT burned up in fire due to hardcore oc & gaming.
As this happened, the ATI x1950Pro costs only about half than a factory new 7950GT.
So i did change to ATI .. and believe me, it was the worst mistake i ever made in computer decisions.

But i have a good AGP System so there is no reason to change my x1950pro to nvidia 7950GT
    and waste again money for this. I'm running a S939 Athlon64 X2 3800+ @ 2.4Ghz to 2.8Ghz !
If i need renderspeed for finalgathering i just boost my cpu to 2.8Ghz, all the other time its on 2.4Ghz.
So im not going to spend money for new components ! This is the reason why i have to use my x1950pro.

Maybe 2010 its time to buy a complete new system, and then surely with Nvidia (love it !) and i7 core.

    @N4D444
Believe me, i know when Softmod is working and when it's not. As u can see in my previous post,
i did many test with different FireGL drivers. And these wo marked as "WORKING" blow my
mind away in SpecViewPerf 10. I noticed the difference easily while loocking to the screen.

SO AGAIN: I'm asking for a patchscript for FireGL/FirePro Driver 8.5xx.
If anyone has a script -> i will try out everything i get !! Thanks for your advice.

Dunno how is with W7, but for Vista x64 I use ReadyDriverPlus to avoid manually overriding driver signature at every boot.

Google for ReadyDriverPlus, there are many sources.

    ATI x1950Pro AGP @ FirePro V7600GL Driver v8.603

WOW i've got GOOD NEWS for ATI x1950Pro 512MB AGP Users !

Today i tried again some scripts and FireGL drivers from v8.2 up to v8.583,
but the results were the same as posted in my previous post [SEE HERE].

    Rewind in Time
As u all know, with introduction of FirePro v8.603 driver the support for
the older x19xx series and V73xx GL series was removed / discontinued.

Well, the x1950 pro was RV570 Chip and "downward compatible" with RV520.
That was the reason why we could use them with previous FireGL drivers
as a V7350GL. The V7600 uses the R600GL chip and therefore it is DX10.

I tooked a look into the ".inf" file of FireGL 8.603 driver and could'nt
find any V73xx cards there ... but i found the V7600GL still in there.

    back to today
Today i got the idea: Lets see, if the FireGL 8.603 Drivers run with
my ATI x1950Pro, when selecting V7600GL during driver installation.
So i edited the ".inf" file of the driver and replaced the device id of
the V7600GL with the device id of my Radeon x1950pro (7280).

What should i say: IT WORKED FOR ME (in Single Display Mode) !!!
And not only the driver is running pretty fine, by using gellmars 8.603
patchscript the SoftMod is working too - SpecViewPerf10 blows mind !

    conclusion
I really dont know why and can't explain ... but using the V7600GL drivers
with my x1950pro works pretty fine even in Softimage and OpenGL Apps.
Maybe this is no new "exploration", but i cant understand how drivers which
are determined to use with an "R600GL, PCI-E, DX10 device" can work pretty
fine with my x1950pro "RV570, AGP, DX9" graphics chipset.

And the BEST - the Reason why i'm posting this here - is, with the use
of the FirePro v8.603 driver all my annoying "Selection Bug's" are GONE !
So it seems that we now have a working SoftMod driver without annoying
Selection Bugs for our pretty old ATI Radeon x1950Pro Graphic Card Series !

Sorry i cant test the Maya Bike Scene because i'm using Softimage XSI.

But here is a short comparison i made to show the renderspeed increase:

And here are the SpecViewPerf10 Results for the x1950Pro @ V7600GL using FireGL Pro v8.603 @ WinXP x86:

Testing with specview is just a waste of time lately. It just shows if your mod was successful or not. If you wanna test something for real then open a scene in XSI and benchmark it before and after the mod. Just rotate your viewport and look at the FPS.
I have no idea how good quadro or firegl is with XSI but I would like to know.
So leave specview alone we are all sick of it just do some real world benchmarks in the end that is all that counts.

All of the ppl here have some very nice specview scores in Maya but their Maya works very very slow. They have even better specview scores than my quadro softmod but my quadro works 4-5x times faster in Maya than any firegl in here.
