I'm going to get folding on my old mini-mac tonight, I can leave it on all the time and just stick it under my desk or something...

You will get far better results from you 8800GTX.

    @ 89mustang (f@h username)...

How long have you been waiting to take the #1 spot, and how are you feeling about it?
Myself I'm struggling to get into the top 100... and I'll feel pretty good about that, so you must be planning a party. ;)

    Congrats in advance!

    must_kill,
I don't think 89mustang is a forum member, at least I have not seen any post from him.

That's odd... and funny on several different levels.

    So...

Being a no0b to anything sli related...

My mobo (EVGA 780i ftw) has support for more than one video card. I am currently running a 260 216, and have access to a 9800gt. Am I able to:

    A) Run both cards in non-sli on my mobo?
    B) Fold on both at same time?

    Agreed, yes to both.

But you will take a hit in PPD because of the different number of shaders on the two cards.

It will not always be bad but I found with 1 x 275 & 1 x 8800 that it gave lower PPD more often than not.

If you have another mobo/cpu/ram/HD/PSU then put them together as a folding rig.

Are you saying that your 275 coupled with an 8800 is less ppd than either single? OR, the total of the two in the same rig is less than the total of the two in different machines?

Alas, this is the only pci-e ready machine in my house... and I just can't take the step towards converting my work pc's to folders atm. Dangit, it's just going to be too expensive for me to add another 260 216 as I would have to buy not only it, but a new powersupply as well.

*edit* I just now caught the part in the chart about the different types not being compatible with each other.

It will work and your total ppd will go up.
It just is not as efficient.

Just started folding again. About 4.5K PPD for around a month. I wonder what combination would be best. 2 GPU clients? 1 GPU 1 SMP? 1 GPU 2 Single CPU? Any ideas?

If you can get it to work correctly on your x2 then 2 GPU clients would be best.

Cheers mate, that is what I am doing at the moment. The only hiccup is that I can't get the second GPU up to 3d clocks but apart from that it is working fine.

I have read the same on some other forum's but I do not know if you can manualy clock the second gpu to full 3d mode or not! Have you tried rivatuner or ATI tools to do this?

just got my dell dimension desktop hooked up, folding @ 892ppd on a E6300 conroe. :) no overclocks yet, folding does not work on the 7300LE in the box.

might get a cheap GT 220 for this.
