Which ever you choose, I just installed over 9.8, but these are full driver package.

Well its as simple as this

    with 1920x1200 8xaa16xaf

    vsync locked

all tests are 60fps synced apart from area 3 it drops mysteriously into the teens then back up to about 35-45 then back down and back up never going over 60fps and never at 60fps for long, then back down again...
its never constant like area 1 and 2 and 4

something is seriously FUBAR with area3, all other areas look more taxing that area 3 yet it lags like a MOFO!

im not impressed to say the least becuse this will make the 3rd driver release from ATI with the problem still not solved.

i went ahead and ran it again..i do see what ur saying..i didnt do any aa or af but i see the graph after the tests and its definitely not near as smooth as 1 2 and 4..still very playable at those settings imo..any nvidia guys can benchmark and see if the graph is smoother on sli?(dx10 max no aa/af)

ATI use driver level profiling to limit the max performance of the cards, since the 4870 and xx90 have a chatty 3 phase VRM which starves the Core from getting all the power it needs.

I've also noticed that this limit affects cards that are not effected by the VRM limitation (such as on the 4670) with benchmarking apps, so to get the best score out of such apps on ATI cards, it is recommended to rename the benchmark exe.

is it not possible that the game itself could have something Fubard instead of just ATI?

AA on capcom engine (street fighter IV too) is totally useless.... and at 1920x1080 is more useless. Try without AA and see how the visual quality is the same but with more frames....

and remember: RE5 IS ONLY A BENCHMARK OF A GAMES NOT RELEASED, we can't expect support from ati for this.

Just tried the hotfix and res evil is still the same for me.Flickering textures and if i select 8x AA the frame rate plummets still.

    Well said...

however, it does not matter that its a Capcom engine. Most Capcom games run perfectly fine when using AA, Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet, SF4...

But I do think you are right, the fact that RE5 at the moment is a benchmark and this driver hotfix is probably for the final game not the benchmark version.

The Resident Evil 5 benchmark issue on stage 3 happens on my SLI system as well. So I dont think it is the ATI drivers, looks more like it is in the game code?
