Nvidia 190.56 beta drivers.

How do those drivers work for you for your 8800GT WinXP SP3 compared to 182.50 ?
Should I give them another try because I noticed 190.56 is bloody slower than 182.50 on my 8800GT 512MB - yet I followed the instructions to the dot.

 

I think a rating for Image Quality may also be a helpful option to add to any polls for future drivers.
We could try using 3 or 4 different rating options to give a clearer picture of each drivers strengths or weaknesses.

For example we could volunteer a rating of 1-5 for each of the four categories below,

FPS Speed
FPS Consistency (or Smoothness)
Image Quality
Driver Stability

also, only the system32 xml needs to be overwritten.

 

Down clocking in 2D mode is not working for me. I really like these drivers. They make my gaming the smoothest in windows 7 thus far. But they are $$ to have installed with down clocking not working.

Can confirm that issue is finally fixed, even with the input lag option left unticked it's near instant now alt-tabbing back and forth

 

Fallout 3 seems to be very unstable with these.

 

These drivers gave me 20 fps increase on Resident evil 5 Benchmark.

 

i think the performance is good with these drivers, its it features that are letting it down. for example downclocking, these driver wont down clock for me after ive been gaming and for the first time ever they downclocked whilst gaming. left4dead ran fine no problems there but i went on cod zombies and after level 10 i went from 91fps to 16-45fps. when i checked i saw that the card had gone into low 3d mode.

i would like to keep these but can with those issues.

 

None of the 190.xx drivers clocked down after gaming here. Win7RC1x32. The last driver that does this is 186.35. Wonder why they are not mentioned here on Guru. Even Cryostasis Demo runs great with these 186.35. They sometimes need 5 minutes to clock down after gaming but they do.

 

What driver were using previously ? 20fps is indeed significantly better !

 

Finally no damn issuse with Alt-Tabbing games, not only WoW. That's tell me to keep these drivers. No problems with Crysis, GTA 4, L4D, CoD (all series) etc. 5/5 for me.
Force AA works great now.

 

only globally, which means profiles don't work, which means profile stored game fixes, sli profiles, and AA compatibility modes don't work.

 

I forced it in Call of Duty 1 + UO, PES 6, BC etc. in profile AAxQ16 and AF too, so ... for me it's working.
OS: Win 7 B.7260 x86

 

So...
I did an uninstall of 186.18, rebooted my pc and installed 190.56.
Now tell me, why did forced AA not work via nvidia's control panel?
As soon as I deleted C:\ProgramData\Nvidia\NvApps.xml and added the one from the 190.56 set, it worked again.
So the uninstaller did not delete the one from 186.18 and 190.56 installation did not overwrite it either.
Which left me with jagged edges in games where I prefer to force AA, and by that get smooth looking edges, I'm using SLI 32xQ in some games.
So profile forced AA does work 100% on my end.
And as far as I noticed when making backup and restores of NvApps.xml, even nHancer stores them in that folder.
I'm on Windows 7 though, but I don't think Vista SP2 does it differently.

 

I find that a terrible idea.
Why?
Because you will have everyone that has problems or doesn't know to do clean driver installs marking the driver as bad.
You would neither have any feedback, trouble tracking and solution.
Drivers can not simply be put into 3 fitting boxes, since there is a variety of software on the marked, which all makes different approaches to render on the hardware, and on top of that you have different type of interfaces communicating between software and driver/hardware.

Why read pages after pages to figure out if you try or not?
Either you try a beta and see if it handles the games you play or you don't and stick with the official releases.
