does ID have some sort of fetish for short game titles??

Yeah this game looks pretty tight.. you can always count on ID to make a decent clean and bugless game.. IMO anyway..

id will always get my maximum respect cause of their attitude to coding perfection.

Quake III got years of support and I loved that game so much even though I rarely ever played online. Loved RTCW, Doom3 and Quake4 too. Really looking forward to Rage!!!

    Bring it on id!!!

Oh yay. Yet another post apocalyptic Mad Max-ish future. Hope this game has more than just good graphics.

Rage interests me quite a bit, and I've loved Id's previous work, but I am of course worried that Id is now working the multi platform angle. This article already seems to hint at a regenerative health system, and some sort of death revival ability as well, both something I absolutely despise. Overall, I am not getting my hopes up too high for Rage, and Doom 4, so if they turn out to be console fodder, I won't be too disappointed.

"Rages hero is a nameless silent protagonist."

    That's just like ID. :D

They were right about ID tech 4 though. Up until they decided to use Megatexture, it was an indoor engine, which was its biggest problem. You see this a lot in Prey when they tried big open areas.

Speaking of Megatexture, does anyone know if they're going to use it in Wolfenstein?

oh, Madmax part 4. cant wait to view the beauty of rock mountains, brownish dry deserts, shredded scrap metal with lots o rust and awesome zombies and mutated creatures ready and waiting for me to pass by so they can attack. Lets not forget how awesome it should be to race cars using a KB and mouse along with its fps parts.
i also like how the unique the intro sounds, you start off being the sole survivor, how do they come up with this great stuff.
nope sir, never seen none of that stuff before so should be a unique experience [/sarc]

that said based on from what it appears. i do hope it turns out good but i can foresee alot of complaints from the PC gamers cause its both a racing and fps...pc gamers often hate fps on gamepads and racing on kb/mouse, so will be interesting to see how the controls pan out. i'm also concerned on how vague Id is being over the size of the map, leads me to think its pretty small, probably not as big as the first map in FC2.
but apocalyptic aftermath in a desert has never been my cup of tea in the past.

    No megatexture technology for Wolfenstein.

Wow @ page 40 and 41. Very nice shots!

i think this and borderlands are shaping up really nice both are fpsrpg style, borderlands has an interesting art concept aswell.

Just one thing annoys me "silent nameless protagonist" = fail. It's been done to death and every time its stupid.

Every time it's stupid? Quite subjective.

Not that I have strong feelings either way, as different games are well suited to both in this regard, but a speaking roll gives your character an NPC like quality, a level of disjointedness. A silent, nameless character offers you the freedom of imagination, and of immersion into the character, as it could more easily be you, or an extension of yourself, rather then you controlling someone else.

Looks nice. Gamplaywise i hope it's something between GTA4 and Fallout3. Arcadish driving controls might screw this up though.

    This is on my list.

OMG! Still those square'i fingers... I mean, it's a new damned engine, and still there's these weird fingers...

It's not much of an issue, but it's pretty annoying for me:D

Looks interesting.....but let's be honest...... the basic starting premise is more or less a complete and total rip-off of the entire Fallout series...

    "Doom 3 was too long."
    :puke2:
Is this a f*cking joke? Doom 3 took about as long to beat as it takes to get through a McDonald's Happy Meal. He can't be serious. :bang:
