Oh dear! I forgot to add that I'm on 7 RC x64. Not x86.

I believe you cause you have 8GB of DDR3 and run SW, if I am not missing something ;)
BTW, (offtop), how much have you paid for your rig? I want the same!:pc1:

    Wesley8 XP32 test on HD3850@V7700

I have just run the test of Wesley8's XP32 mod and got the following results:

The results are pretty similar to mine (including the antivirus off for the last test).
Also, CCC recognizes the card still as 9505 not 9511, and I'm trying to resolve that issue.

Waiting for results from 4xxx card owners, but very doubtful it works so brightly as it is shown on a pic.

    Regards,
    gellmaR

P.S. Wesley8, how could you achieve the 9456 DevID in CCC if you haven't patched the CCC or ati2mtag in some special way? I assume that was the REAL FIREPRO, not the modded one.:3eyes:

What a bummer with those results.
Keep at it, and keep us informed please.

No not SW. Maya for a short while. But I hated it. And then I moved to Strata 3D CX. Very nice program, but the company behind it is so unprofessional.
I checked what it cost me, just short of 2000 Euros. That excludes the case, 2 HDDs, and 2 DVD burners of my old rig.
But you would pay a lot less now because i bought the parts in September 2008.

I also did not include the waste of time Foxconn BlackOps.
A wet dream come through for short, just a couple of minute, extreme overclocks, but very instable for 24/7 overclocks. Random freezups with the same settings. Sometimes after a copule of minutes into Windows and stress testing, sometimes after almost 2 days into Windows and stress testing. Nothing changed in the BIOS settings inbetween.

The GigaByte is much stabler and I'm trying to get the memory @1780Mhz.
Very difficult with 8GB. When I still had the BlackOps, OCZ staff was already saying that they themselves hadn't even got 8GB stable at that speed. http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52285

Anyway I'm getting off topic again.

Here you are the 3800s MOD driver. Only for 3870 and 3850.
@gellmaR, please don't simply replace the ati2mtag.sys file on your current system. Uninstall your CCC and ATI's driver, reboot. After that kindly run the setup.exe file in my MOD driver. And then things would goes well.

PS: Please don't think that someone cheating on it if you can't fix the problem. That's not a good behavior for human being.

actually I don't have any Radeons...
I was still waiting for the mod to be functional on 4870 (and now also 4890) series....

    wesley8,

First, I don't think you are cheating on it if I can not fix the problem. I've just explained one of the versions of why does your and mine driver run wrong on a clean system setup ;) We are all interested in successful mod, so I don't want you to get offended by my accuses:) BTW, I have set the clean OS up because of that bug with CCC. Now it works on both drivers, and posting your GPU-Z screen killed my doubts:)

Second, I did not simply change the file on my system, it's ridiculous, so I have installed a clean XP32 SP3 and ran your driver.

Third, I will test your latest V7700 mod and post a results ASAP.

    Regards, gellmaR

    OK, that's fine.
    PS: 4890 also successful.

    Results not so cool

    Wesley8,

unfortunately the results are the same :(

Here is the screenshot (I think about my weak processor on the test machine, tomorrow I will try on my work machine with 4 cores)

    Here is what I've done:

    1. Uninstalled display driver from Device List,
    2. Uninstalled the ATI Display Driver and CCC from Uninstall programs,
    3. Rebooted into safe mode, and cleaned the leftovers with Driver Sweeper,
    4. Rebooted again to Windows normal boot, ran setup.exe from your distro with everything enabled (incl. Hydavision and .NET Framework),
    5. Rebooted again
    6. Switched off anti-virus and Internet connection,
    7. Ran SpecViewPerf 1280*1024.

I assume there is still a "lag jump" on GL functions that was "introduced" in 8.502. And the other thing is that the places where the jumps you've patched reside does not have any static or dynamic references (i.e, neither in IDA nor in WinDBG). So, why have you patched that two places?

gellmar's weak results are normal !!!

    wesley8 and gellmar,

Both of your results are normal.

I had a lot of experiments with HD3850 and 3870 mods on both AMD and Intel CPUs.

Most of the specviewperf scores depend of CPU. For example, an Intel Core2 Duo 8400 CPU had outperformed a AMD Phenom X3 CPU, with AMD CPU reachinng only %50-%60 of Intel CPU scores.

Furthermore, some test scores depend on CPU clock speed only - that is %20 percent increase in clock speed= 20% increase in score .

Given that conditions, wesley8's Q6600 running on 3.7 GHz will nearly have double or triple performance than AMD X2 s 2,51 GHz CPU.

It is normal. What matters is whether the professional capabilities are working or not.

By the way, I have a 4870X2 that I can try, however, I am out of a medical operation and have pain. I hope I can try it and report it back.

I wanted to try out 4870X2, but could not.

Blood rushed to my head until I installed 4870X2 to a PC with Intel 550W PSU, DQ45 mobo, Q9400 CPU, 4 GB DDR2 667 RAM and win XP, Vista, Win7 installed on three different disks.

It did not boot up, I suspect PSU insufficiency.

However, my blood rushed to my head and my face growed just like a balloon. So I simply could not change the PSU to 850W thermaltake, where the VGA card worked.

Now, I have terrible headaches have taken two painkillers.

I am sorry that I could not try it out, and report it back to you guys.

    Driver for 3870 - XP64

Can wesley or gellmaR please post for 3870 for XP64.

Edit: Actually I have 2x 3870, so if there's a driver that can use crossfire that will be great !!!

    Thanks

You don't have to apologise about anything.
    Your health is more important.
Like they say, you have to take care of yourself first, before you can take care of others.

From what I saw here with results from a modded 4870, it seems the scores or more or less same as my 3870 modded so i won't be surprise that my new 3870 results will drop as well.. I will try it tonight and post something later on.

    Thanks gellmaR for the link.
